We arrived in China by train from Hong Kong. We came completely unprepared, without roaming, without Chinese yuan, without a hotel address in Chinese, without a route plan for the park. By some miracle, a local guy brought us from the train station to the hotel using GPS coordinates. At the hotel, we paid for our transfer, were treated to tea, bought tickets to the park, and were given a route plan. The staff didn't speak English, but we understood each other perfectly with the help of a translator. They helped us solve all our problems and plan our days in this area. They always found and brought us to the hotel by car, considering that we didn't have internet. In general, it was delightful! And the hotel itself was very comfortable. The view, cleanliness, style. Everything was superb!

A wonderful family-run hotel in the mountains with a view of the Avatar Mountains .Delicious Chinese food at the local restaurant (we didn't have time to try everything on the menu in three days 😂) manager Tiffany speaks excellent English and resolves all your questions in no time! And Tiffany professionally planned itineraries to visit all the iconic locations, including purchasing all the tickets and providing transportation to the desired locations. Everything is so well-organized that all you have to do is enjoy the beauty and grandeur of the mountains. Magnificient views to the Valley and mountains, Sunset. Warm and clean pool. The staff were very accommodating, helping us with all kinds of things: providing vegetarian food, helping buy tickets to and dropping us off at the gate of the natural park, helping us plan the trip. Tucked just 300 meters from the South Gate of the National Forest Park, the location is unbeatable—we could reach the park entrance in a leisurely 5-minute stroll. Waking up to mist-shrouded quartzite peaks from our private balcony felt like living in a painting. The hosts went above and beyond: they prepared herbal foot baths after long hiking days, customized a vegetarian breakfast with local wild vegetable dumplings, and even arranged a private bilingual guide who revealed hidden viewpoints ahead of tourist crowds. The room seamlessly blended traditional Tusheng architecture with modern comforts (think heated floors and rainfall showers). What truly stood out was the proactive service—they contacted us pre-arrival to coordinate luggage storage and secured park tickets during peak season. If you seek authenticity over luxury, this family-run gem delivers soul-stirring moments you won’t find at chain hotels.

What a splendid spot. Tucked right by the park entrance, it offers remarkable convenience without sacrificing an ounce of tranquillity. Waking up to those peaks each morning was rather special. Review for Merlot Crystal, Zhangjiajie Our stay at the Merlot Crystal was the highlight of our trip to Zhangjiajie! This place truly deserves a 5-star rating. First and foremost, the location is absolutely perfect. It strikes a brilliant balance between easy access to the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and offering a peaceful, comfortable retreat after a day of hiking. The views of the quartz-sandstone peaks from the hotel are simply breathtaking. The service was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and provided great advice for planning our daily excursions. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very thoughtfully designed. It was so relaxing to come back to such a comfortable and stylish space. We also have to compliment the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast buffet had a great variety of both Chinese and Western options, giving us a perfect start to each day. The dinners we had were delicious and used high-quality ingredients. Merlot Crystal is more than just a place to sleep; it's an essential part of the magical Zhangjiajie experience. We left feeling rejuvenated and with wonderful memories. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
