The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. It was really nice stay! We stayed one night in the cottage and second night in the tent. We really enjoyed it! Restaurant staff were super nice and friendly! We also did safari tour with Santha - he was amazing driver and the best guide. He has really good eyes so we were lucky and saw lots of animals. International and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are served by the chef on demand, at the main restaurant. Athgira River Camping offers a great outdoor dining experience as well as a barbecue dinner and cooking demonstrations. Real wild cocktails and a nice wine selection are available as well. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

Barbecue dinner is provided around a campfire. Free WiFi is available in the public areas of the property. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. In particular, our guide Solomons made the safaris and nature walk so much fun and he was so knowledgeable. We appreciated the upgraded tent!
