The stay in Tetebatu was my first ever experience of Indonesia and, wow! - was I absolutely smitten with its simplicity and beauty. The price of accommodation is so minuscle that it only makes sense to support homestay owners by joining on their local tours. After all, they offer not just their time, but their valuable local experience. Walk with them the rice fields, see and hear about the agriculture, jump into the cave waterfalls, watch the local ladies weave sarongs and make clay pottery, drive to the local market and ask your hosts to explain the local foods. If you are not the hike-or-die type, ask your hosts to bring you up to the foothills of Rinjani - and breathe in silence... I've seen and felt in a week more than I would do in two months back home. Also, very important!, as a solo female traveller I felt very safe with my hosts. I felt protected, respected and genuinely understood.

Staying at this bungalow doesn’t feel like being just a guest — it truly feels like becoming part of the family. The family was incredibly warm and welcoming, and I felt at home from the very first moment. I truly enjoyed my stay. The view from the terrace was absolutely breathtaking, overlooking the rice fields and Mount Rinjani in the distance. The best homestay I have stayed in so far (and I am a frequent traveller to South-East Asia for past 8 yrs). Spacious and clean room, set in a beautiful garden. Free toiletries, bottled water, hairdryer, hot shower which was a great plus! The hospitality of the homestay owner Arwan is outstanding. From delicious food (breakfast and dinner, vegetable curry is a must try) to making sure we have everything and feel comfortable at his homestay, to arranging scooter, a driver to next destination, … I would def recommend to go for a day walking tour through rice fields with him, he provides great insights into the culture and traditions of this particular region. Thank you for a wonderful stay Arwan!

Fantastic local experience. Newly opened so needs a few finishing touches. The bungalow was large, clean and very calming. Had a great sleep, comfortable bed and cool temperature. The best part was the staff. Opik, did a tour of the area with us at a great price 200k per person. Then he took us to the local markets and fish farm to buy our dinner and cooked over coals that night. Even got some vegetables from his garden ! Oh and shouldn’t forget the price. Bargain!!

Honestly, this is one of those reviews that doesn’t make sense because I have plenty of critiques about the hotel itself, and still, I’m giving it five stars without blinking. Yes, my room at Pondok Tetebatu had a strong smell of ammonia (probably due to the pipes), the bathroom was super basic, and the place is clearly not about comfort or luxury. But somehow… none of it mattered. Because what I experienced here was way beyond accommodation. I had the chance to spend the day with Ucok, who turned out to be not only an amazing guide, but also the cooker at the guesthouse… and honestly? The food was absolutely delicious. Simple, generous, and made with care. But that’s not even the best part. Ucok took me on a day I’ll never forget: we walked through rice fields, visited beautiful waterfalls, and he even brought me to drink a fresh coconut right from the tree. We laughed a lot, shared stories, and I felt truly welcomed and at peace. It was heartfelt, human, real: everything you hope to experience when traveling off the beaten path. I came here expecting very little, and I’m leaving with a full heart and unforgettable memories. So yes, the room could use an upgrade. But for the connection, the beauty of the surroundings, and the warmth of Ucok and his family, this place is an absolute gem. The price is honestly a joke compared to what I received. Don’t come for the amenities come for the experience. And let yourself be surprised. Thank you Ucok. You made Tetebatu magical.

The Bello bungalow is situated in a rural area surrounded by rice fields and nature. It is absolutely stunning!! The staff is incredibly friendly and ready to help! I'm a solo traveller and I felt very safe. You have to respect the local community, so it is better to have a proper outfit when going around. It is possible to rent a scooter as well, but there are local guides that can help you to arrange tours and show you around, and suggest the typical food to try! The room is absolutely nice, the ves is comfortable, is very clean, there is a window on the rice fields, AC and kettle. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!
