Everything about my stay was so wonderful. Hiro and his adorable assistant, Marie, are attentive, kind, and welcoming. I got to hear different stories of Hiro's life as well as recommendations that I never would have known about otherwise. His care for the guests is so apparent, including turning the heater on every morning in the kitchen, being so responsive and flexible, and consideration for any needs. The house itself is beautiful with tatami mats in the bedroom, a zen garden, a mini onsen, and surrounded by ancient trees and nature. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, kettle, and dishware, and Hiro-san provides towels and slippers. He also prepares the mini onsen for guests every night as well as shuttle service to Tobu and JR stations whenever you would like to leave or come back to the house.

My friend and I had the most amazing time at Stay house Arai. Our room was very clean, comfortable and cozy. Mariko was an incredibly nice host, gave us a lot of information on how to get around Nikko and great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. She also surprised us with an amazing breakfast and some super cute little charms and origami as gifts. The only downside: we ended up regretting only staying for two nights! Would definitely book again.

Very pleasant night. The owner of the accommodation takes care of every detail, from your welcome with recommendations on what to visit in the area to a very good and complete breakfast in the morning completely free of charge. The room is very comfortable, futon on tatami, and there are two bathrooms to share with the other guests. You also have the possibility to leave your luggage in the accommodation before and after check-in and check-out. Highly recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous host who made us a delicious and filling breakfast every morning - felt like we were family ! House is lovely and clean and very close to the station !

A wonderfull place with so many beautiful, carefully thought out details. It's close to the station and it's very quiet. Yoshi is an amazing host. He helped us to plan our stay in Nikko so we could get the most out of it. On a hot afternoon he even put some beer for us in the fridge. Everything was perfect

Beautiful place to stay plenty of room it was a good stay here

About a 20-minute walk from the Nikko shrines, Annex Turtle Hotori-An is situated next to the Daiya river and green forests. It features hot spring baths with river views.

Such a beautiful home with the most attentive hosts. We were greeted with kindness from the moment we arrived (in pouring rain). They did a tour of the house and our room and explained everything to us. The painted doors are truly stunning and it felt like a very authentic experience. The ryokan bed was comfortable and warm. In the room we had a heating/ air conditioning unit. There was a traditional Japanese seating area and tea and snacks were provided. Even some complimentary Japanese socks! We were able to use the kitchen at any point. Which had two coffee machines - one for beans and one nespresso machine (pods included!). Tap water of course can be drunk but filtered water was also provided. They both spoke very good English and provided recommendations for local Onsen and food. There are not many reviews yet as this is a new listing, however I do not doubt there will be plenty of amazing reviews to come. It was a 13 minute walk to the station. If in doubt, do book!
