the host was really kind and friendly, allowed me check in earlier and offered me a larger room with no charge, also introduced the city and shops nearby to me. the place is very cozy and warm, definitely a good choice for a solo traveller with good price, highly recommended.

We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

Spacious arrangements with enough beds for family of four. Near restaurants and laundromat. Very helpful host. Good location to visit castle. You can drive up and park.
