This place is like heaven. Unfortunately we only booked for one night but we wished we could stay more. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and exactly how you see in the pictures. There is a dock to jump in the water and you can have a charmful swim in the laguna. There are also chairs and an amaca to relax, and at night you can see the fish thanks to underwater lights. The hotel has 5 kayak that offer to the customers free of charge and you can visit the cenotes nearby. Bacalar town is 5 minutes drive away or 25 walking. They also offer breakfast with very reasonable prices and you can enjoy it in their terrace. One of our best staying during our trip around Mexico, super recommended!

We have found our personal paradise in this enchanted place by the lagoon. The water is incredible. It actually has several shades from turquoise to dark blue and is crystal clear. Right by the water in the shade under the trees, it is a wonderful place to relax even when the temperatures in Bacalar are hot. The area around the huts is completely unspoiled and far away from the noise of the road. If you're traveling by bus like we were, it's a 20-minute cab ride from Bacalar (there's no Uber). Ernesto and Camilla were excellent hosts. As we had no car Ernesto and family drove us all the way into Bacalar for supplies on more than one occasion... We enjoyed the (covered) outdoor shared kitchen immensely. We had all the necessary kitchen supplies to make lunches and dinners plus it was a great way to meet the other guests staying in the huts next to ours. And lastly there are 2 excellent kayaks to use on the lagoon...

Very cute place in Bacalar! There is an amazing garden in front of the room. A shared open kitchen is available to everyone, with grill, amacas and a lot of place to chill in the open air. Casa Umay is very close to the center and to the lake, you can easily reach any place by foot. There is also a cafè right next to the entrance. The room is simple and has anything need :)

Nice hostel with lots of nature/beautiful garden. Good wifi and a nice hot shower. The accommodation was a 10/15 minute walk away from the lake but that was good for me.

Everything was amazing!!! The place is just pure Mexico. The owners are kind and helpful. The beautiful smell of flowers and laundry was accompanying us all day. Fruits and fresh juice for breakfast was a really tasty. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

I liked the location and the view. My partner liked the air con. You're right at the lagoon, and have the view from the bed (the sunrise is a bit hidden by the trees), but it's still amazing to wake up to it at the lagoon and step onto the balcony in the morning. Compared to other place's prices, it's really good value. For the same price or more in other places around, you get a room in the back without a view. So just for the view and location I would book the place again. It's outside of bacalar, so it's quiet, but it's only 7 minutes drive to all the places in bacalar. We had some rain while we stayed, so couldn't be in the lagoon much, so we asked for a late check out, which was amazing, so we could go for a little swim in the morning before we left, which we really appreciated. We loved the palapa over the pier, it's small, and there is just space for a family at a time, but we were lucky that there were not many houses booked, while we stayed.

Armando is very warm and kind host. my room was next to the lagoon, perfect place to see the sunrises. There is a beautiful area to chill on the shore of the lagoon. the hotel is 5k away from Bacalar town, so one needs either rental car or taxi to get to city center.

Absolutely beautiful home away from home! The place is very clean and has a beautiful atmosphere there is a huge area downstairs with a nice breeze and area to sit down and relax! The rooms was spacious and comfortable and the two brothers who are organising everything and own the place are the most friendly people I meet in Mexico! Honestly highly recommend. The shower pressure is good and the showers and kitchen are well maintained. The location is perfect very close to everything and also close to the free pier for the lake! Thank you so much I will pass on this place as a recommendation!
