I really enjoyed my stay, the room and bathroom facilities were very very clean and we had a great balcony where we enjoyed breakfast and dinner. Homemade food was delicious, and we really felt welcome. We really appreciated the bike rent that is very convetient to go visit the sacred city from the home stay. Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. The first time I stayed here was in 2016 and I love to return to this place to Amma Vasa, Samal, and now Lilly the dog! They welcomed us like their own family and I'm writing this now with wet eyes. The place itself is something you are searching for in the journey: clean, simple, and comfortable. The location is great also, just 5 minutes from the Ancient City and the lake by bike, that can also rent there. The hosts also helped us get our clothes to the laundry and dropped us near the only working restaurant even though it was late and heavy raining. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart. We had a great stay here, hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Cooked us very delicious breakfasts and dinners and even made it vegan upon our request. They also arranged bike hire for us. Great location, close to the ancient city.
