We made a slight upgrade when arriving to the property for a nicer view. The location was great, we were provided amazing recommendations, even a last minute tour guide (that met us at our location when our tour guide didn’t show. We felt like family and like we were taken care of, looked after, with genuine kindness. The property was clean, smelled nice, no issues with mold (it’s frequent in India). Don’t bother looking at other properties, this is the one!

Firstly , I like the behavior of the owner (Mrs. S. Gupta). I have booked for two rooms for my family trip to Bodhgaya which I found to be clean and affordable as homestay. The location is the main advantage of this homestay which is 5 mins walking distance from Mahabodhi Temple. Also I loved their washroom and balcony of the building. This is ideal place for those people who love peaceful environment.

Everything was great about Marina Homestay and ended up staying for many days. It’s a nice place in a spacious open field, though the most impressive thing was the staff and owners they are an inspirational family and I felt warmly welcomed which was a delightful surprise. There was group from Thailand staying there who were also very friendly and welcoming too which all contributed to my stay and wholesome experience of Bodh Gaya after 20 years since my first visit there… Marina home stay is a little away from the main Maha Bodhi temple but this means that it’s a quiet peaceful place and there are some local temples close by like the 21 Tara Devi temple which is exquisite. So really Marina home stay was perfect for me and well recommended. Thank you 👁️🙏👁️

We felt very welcome in the family and as we visited during the festival we got taken along to all the ceremonies the festival entails. This was a truly unique experience which we are very happy to have been a part of. Furthermore the guesthouse is next to the school it supports so you can easily pay a visit there too. The place is just outside of town, so this gives some peace from the busy city. But it can be reached easily by tuktuk (although you might need to help a bit with the navigation) from the temple area of bodh gaya. The guesthouse serves a simple but delicious breakfast and dinner as well as an assortment of hot drinks. Beds are basic but comfortable, so is the shower with reliable hot water. The guesthouse can also arrange other touristic excursions or transportation with a good driver and comfortable car. They are however not the cheapest option in this category.

The house is located on one of the quieter streets, which we appreciated especially at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The landlord was always willing to help with any problem, guide us to attractions or discuss the history of India. He also invited us to practice yoga in the morning at the beautiful Butterfly Park. The host lady was happy to prepare local specialties for us such as jackfruit. In addition to the hearty and tasty breakfast that was included in the price of our stay, we could order additional delicious food at any time, which was very convenient because we didn't have to leave the accommodation when the weather was very hot. We felt simply at home here. If we ever return to Bodhgaya, we would definitely stay here again.
