The house is very clean, the room we booked comes with a nice private bathroom, and we could also use the kitchen. The hosts waited for us at the port, as our boat was late, explained the most beautiful points on the island, and helped with our car rental, and found a taxi for the faja hike we did one day. In the evening we had very nice conversations with Rui the uncle, while listening to the most fantastic cries of the cagarro birds flying above our heads and the nearby rock - it is one of the most memorable things from this island. The house is 15-ish minutes walk to the center of Velas, as well a big supermarket. The whole town is very safe and pleasant. The island is very beautiful, with some dramatic scenery, and our most honest advice would be to stay longer on Sao Jorge, if possible. The faja hike is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable hikes we have done.

Some have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the islands of Pico and Faial. The suite has 2 decent sized bedrooms with king beds (2 twins together), which were very comfortable. One bedroom had a 3 piece ensuite bathroom and the other 3 piece bathroom was just down the hall from the 2nd bedroom. The kitchen had great appliances, including a washer and clothing steamer. We really enjoyed the patio area with inside views of the courtyard. It was a great location where we could easily walk to the gardens, harbour and shopping area.
