When I first booked at Tinto Hostel, I was in the process of looking for a tranquil and quiet place to stay for the last month of my 9-month journey abroad. After spending two nights in Barichara and at Tinto Hostel, I knew I had landed in the perfect spot. I ended up extending my stay from 2 nights to almost a full month. The hostel is surrounded by rich greenery which made it all that more relaxing and rejuvenating. I felt I was sleeping in a beautiful garden yet, the dorm room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. The beds were also much bigger than any dorm room that I'd stayed in throughout my journey in Colombia. The location was perfect and close to everything. The town of Barichara itself, was absolutely stunning. The cost was extremely affordable. The owner Javier and his staff were wonderful and a delight to be around. Javier upon arrival, provided everyone with a map of the town and recommended the best places to eat, shop, and sites to see. Javier was always available for anything guests needed and was always helpful in any way possible. Javier is an exceptional host and I will miss him and his staff greatly.

The owners Jane and Filipe together with the rest of the family (mom Janet, dogs) really make the place very special. They make you feel welcome, even before you arrive! Felt like home after a day of walking, rafting etc. The meals are yummie and a massage of mom Janet are also very much recommended.

Amazing staff, Viviana, Wiltor and Diego were all really nice and helpful with organising activities and just in general. The activities organised through the hostel were with companies that had good safety standards so worth the money. The hostel is in a great location, is clean and great value for money. The amenities are really good and they organise events in the evenings which is great to get to know people, one of our favourite hostels in Columbia.

I spent a wonderful 6 nights in La Casona Don Juan. It’s one corner from the main square, practically everything is in walking distance. The breakfast (which is included in the price) is delicious, a good amount and you have different options. You can also ask for extra veggies. There’s free coffee and tea available all day long. They serve various fast food until 9 pm, and there’s also a bar. All the staff members has been great, very kind and helpful with anything. They were calling me by my name after a couple of days :) A wide range of activities can be booked through them. The room was always clean, they clean them every day and even make your bed. It was also spacious with plenty of space to keep your stuff. Most of the beds in the dorms are single beds, not bunkbeds. They give you free towels. Lockers are available for free with keys. The bathrooms are well equipped and were always clean. There’s a large garden that acts as the biggest common area with very chill vibes.

It was by far the best hostal I stayed in during my 2 month backpacking trip through Colombia. Apart from the fantastic location and the extremely friendly and insanely helpful crew, the hostal offered enough space and was sufficiently equipped to, for example, hang up wet things (e.g. towel/swimwear, etc.), store the backpack and clothes well and each bed, had a bedside table with power socket and lamp. Things you learn to appreciate when you´re travel around within the Colombian hostal world. I also really like the fact that there are very friendly notes everywhere to raise ecological awareness. The crew is by far the friendliest I have ever met and responsibly and trustworthily while helping to plan tours in the area and get to know San Gil. All tips and assistance have always been a complete success and was always really economical. Super warm thanks to the great team and the fantastic hostal, which with great attention to detail made the stay in San Gil unforgettable. Many greetings

I booked initially in Mansion Hostal, I was redirected to Sam's Vip Hostal. Great hostel in the city center with pool and sauna, attentive and helpful staff, thanks to the girls at the reception: Gabriela, Katherinе, Daniela, you are the best! Spent a great few days in this hostel!

This is a unique place, hand-built by the owners with natural materials and beautiful techniques. The location is absolutely stunning in midst of nature. The perfect place to go on hiking explorations to small villages, see Barichara and relax. The staff is very friendly and super helpful with any requests! Flo also guided us in re-planning our journey through Colombia sharing his experience. Plus the food is delicious and all of it home made.

Claudia and her family are so warm and welcoming. My room was so comfortable and having TV with Netflix was a bonus! The kitchen has everything you need. There is a really nice atmosphere in the Hostel too.
