This was the 2nd hostel I stayed in while I traveled through Japan for the first time. Honestly loved the temporary escape from the city scene. Hostel is very clean and around the corner from the bus station to get you to and from the JR station. Bedroom had a window you could prop open, a comfy mattress, privacy curtains, and ac/heat if needed. The hostel is located right across the street from Lake Toya. The national park welcome center is also located a street away behind the hostel. Hostel is located on a strip where you'll find different shops including restaurants and convenience stores. Sauna inside the hostel, also very clean. Showers were all clean and spacious with shelves and hooks to easily change clothes. The locker room is coed but it's primarily used to store your belongings, there are 3 sinks with a stool where you can take your time to dry your hair and the hostel provides basic skin care products if you need them. Hostel is located inside the restaurant/coffee shop, you'll have direct access to order food or purchase soft drinks, coffee, or beer. I don't speak Japanese and the hosts don't speak English, but handy Google translate was how we communicated and the hosts were awesome about it.

Hide (the owner) is the most gracious, thoughtful and kindest host I've ever come across - from offering a detailed introduction to Lake Toya (things to do and places to eat) to picking me up after fireworks at night and dropping me off at the train station in the morning because it was raining! It's heartwarming to meet such considerate and genuinely wonderful human beings. The room was a very comfortable Japanese style apartment room. Very clean and spacious. Hide also offers a 500 yen coupon for a lakeside onsen bath at a four star hotel in Toya onsen! Overall, this was my best stay in Hokkaido. Next time, I'm coming back for 5 nights because 2 was too few!

Perfect place to stay before and after hiking, 5 min away from the station, really good view from the lounge and it was the perfect temperature at night to rest, around end of June, after hiking mount Yotei. The owner is such a nice guy, knowledgeable about hiking too, he drove me to the trailhead in the morning ! The bed were confortable and clean, like everything else in this place.

I like that it is very clean, reasonably priced and accessible. Bus stops right in front of the property. I love the complimentary breakfast, simple and fervently prepared by the Chef. The staff are great and accommodating, too.

Lucky House Niseko is located in Kutchan, 4.8 miles from Hirafu Station. Rooms contain a shared bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer and slippers.

Free shuttle to the base of grand hirafu @ 8:05am everyday. Shared bathrooms are very clean and updated. Laundry on site and microwave available in the kitchen with a large shared fridge!! Very central to walk to restaurants and grocery stores in kutchan. Away from niseko and niseko prices. For good sushi walk 10 min to Nihonbashi!!!

Clean and close to everything a traveler would need. Easy walk from Kutchan station. Bus to Grand Hirafu is about three blocks away. Many restaurants and grocery stores also a walkable distance.

The staff is extremely helpful and the hospitality from the staff excellent! The staff answered any questions regarding the hostel and questions regarding the area.

Attractively located in the Toyako Onsen district of Lake Toya, Toyako Guest House Ponkotan is located a 3-minute walk from Lake Toya, 25 miles from Muroran and 25 miles from Higashi-muroran Station.

A wonderful guest house in a wonderful location. The owner is so kind and the beds are super comfortable. There's a bathroom in every dormitory and each dormitory has only four beds. There's only one shower though and it's shared, but that wasn't a problem at all. The shared kitchen/living room is really cozy as well and I've only met great people while staying here. You can also wash laundry and go up on the roof to watch the stars. I love it so much I want to come back!
