simple and cheap hostel below the rock - had everything I needed for a night
Cable car station is around 20 mins uphill. In the morning I walked up to San Marino old town - nice walk
I enjoyed that the hostel was not in the touristy part on top of the rock, so you get a bit of local perspective as well

There is a restaurant run by the hostel owners which has cheap food. The bus station is right at the door of the hostel.
