Glenview Alpaca Farm is located in rural area of Bango, NSW on 25 acres. Yass is just 10 km and Murrumbateman Wineries 33 km. Glenview features beautiful eucalyptus trees throughout with land to explore and wander. The farm is surrounded by green rolling hills and adjoining sheep farms. Glenview has farm animals on site including Alpacas, Dorper Sheep, Australian Miniature Goats, Free Range Hens, Turkeys and a Peacock. Guests are welcome to help with feeding the animals in the afternoon. Glenview was only purchased in 2019 and is a work in progress. Sleeping arrangements include one Queen Size Bed, a Double Sofa Bed and a rollaway Single Bed. A maximum of five guests can be accommodated in the Cottage, all linen will be provided. The Farm has installed a Solar Opening Security Gate providing additional security for our travellers with free private parking available on site to accommodate a boat, caravan or trailer. Upon arrival you will be met by Joy and Kerry the hosts, shown through your newly furbished Cottage Accommodation. Glenview has only one farm stay cottage making the farm experience more personal. A Continental Breakfast will be provided and placed inside your Cottage (please provide any Food Hypersensitivity prior to arrival). Arrival time for guests is after 1500 and departure from the property by 1000.
Joy and Kerry have only purchased Glenview mid 2019 and are still in the process of making the property their home. Joy retired from a long term Military Career in the Navy early 2019 and has always dreamed of returning to the land after her 40 year career. Kerry is a Truck Driver and also hails from a farming childhood. The alpaca story started with three boys purchased whilst Joy was posted to HMAS Darwin on deployment in the Gulf whilst Kerry kept the home fires burning on their property also called Glenview in Canowindra, NSW the herd has now grown to 32 alpacas and the list continues. The drought has made an impact on our breeding program with only five cria born in 2019 and four due in 2020. Bowning will be our final move and we feel so blessed to have found our property, the location and the fact that we have grass and water in our dams. Becoming a Farm Stay Host has been a goal of Joy and Kerry and the venture commenced in Oct 2019, meeting families with their little ones is such a delight especially when they meet our animals which is very rewarding. The alpacas adore children and the elderly and gather around to meet and smell everyone's hair an alpaca thing!
Yass is a town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. The name appears to have been derived from an Aboriginal word, "Yarrh", said to mean 'running water'. Yass is located 280 km south-west of Sydney on the Hume Highway. The Yass River, which is a tributary of the Murrumbidgee River, flows past the town. Yass is 59 km from Canberra; lying at an altitude of 505 m AMSL. Yass has an impressive and historic main street, with well-preserved 19th century verandah post pubs. It is popular with tourists, some from Canberra and others taking a break from the Hume Highway. The Yass Show is held in March, The Turning Wave Festival in September, and the Yass Arts-and-Crafts Festival in November, along with numerous other festivals and events throughout the year.
