You will be staying in a beautiful converted barn with parts of the building dating back to 17th century. The property is surrounded by open countryside, and set in 3 acres of private land. We are 3 km from the lovely medieval town of Domfront, which has a few cafes and restaurants. The peace and quiet at Le Bas is sublime. It is an ideal place for you to kick back and relax in the private lounge area or outside opposite our pond, listening to the water fountain and birds singing. Once you have had your buffet breakfast, you will be more than ready for your ongoing adventures in Normandy. This is an ideal stopover for cyclists, motorcyclists, anyone travelling through or visiting friends and family. We also welcome artisans who maybe are working locally. We have plenty of parking for vehicles and secure storage and a workshop for routine adjustments to your bikes & equipment.

A warm welcome awaits you at Le Bas Chesnay. We moved to France in 2018 and made Le Bas Chesnay our permanent home. Since we opened our doors, we have meet the most amazing and friendly people who are on their own journey of discovery and enjoyment. They have travelled from various areas of France, England, America, South Africa, Holland,Germany, Belgium to name a few, and it has been a great pleasure to meet every single one of them, listening to their stories of the travel experiences they have had and will go onto after leaving us.

Normandy is a region rich in history, beautiful countryside, beaches and visitor attractions. Domfront - home town of Le Bas Chesnay, with its remains of the ancient chateau with its historical links to England. It is perfect for walking, cycling and touring, particularly the Veloscenic cycle route Paris to Mont – St – Michel which you can join from Domfront along a disused railway line going through the typical quiet countryside of the Bocage Normand to Mont-St- Torchamp - Kayaking 15 minutes drive. La Fosse Arthour – The legend and the loveliness of La Fosse Arthour, said to be where King Arthur disappeared to live out his remaining days. Ferte - Mace beautiful lake beach 20 minutes drive. Bagnoles de l Orne - the biggest spa town in western France, a charming town set around a large lake, overlooked by the casino. At night, Clècy - centre of Suisse Normandy, restaurants and bars on the river side, zip wiring, kayaking, boats to hire. The D Day landing beaches - 1.5 hours drive. Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel - 1.5 hours drive. Bayeux Tapestry - 1 hours drive. Falaise - William the Conquerors chateau - that mark the end of the battle of Normandy.
