As a family we enjoy eating out as much as possible and enjoy walking and cycling in the countryside. Most of my time is taken up with the Guest house which I love doing and meeting lots of amazing people over the 20 plus years of running Cartref. I find it so true people arrive as guests but leave as friends.

Property info

Cartref Guest House is a delightful place to stay to see all of what Carlisle steeped in history has to offer. Our Grade II listed Victorian Guest House has 8 comfortable rooms offering a variety of accommodation - singles, double, twins and triple rooms. At the start of the day we provide a hearty Lakeland breakfast which you can book on arrival for a small charge. We can cater for most guests dietary requirements (just let me know at the time of booking). Packed lunches are available at a nominal cost and we will be pleased to fill your flask with tea or coffee free of charge, just drop it off at breakfast. As a family we love to dine out as much as we can so we can recommend a vast selection of local eateries and wine bars which are all close by. We also love the outdoors, especially walking and cycling. We welcome both walkers and cyclists to Cartref and hope to answer any questions you have on the local area. All rooms are tastefully decorated and each one has its own individual character. Neighborhood info

Cartref Guest House is on a few minutes walk from the city centre and all that Carlisle has to offer. Carlisle Cathedral, Tullie House Museum and Carlisle Castle are only 10 minutes walk away. The Cumberland Infirmary is just 1 mile away. We are in easy reach of the Lake District and Hadrians Wall.
