Company information
Hi I’m Mark
After travelling the world, I decided to settle down in Suffolk twenty years ago and started my own little business with a beautiful old derelict farm complex, which I converted into six lovely little cottages for people to escape from city life and enjoy the wonderfully rural experience that this area amazingly has, despite it’s close proximity to London.
I love what I do and am ‘Hands On’ with welcoming guests to my own six cottages, as well as looking after my Cottage Agency 'The Grove Cottages' that soon developed as other owners came asking me to take on their cottages and give them the same level of personal customer care, attention, and promotion that we are known and appreciated for.
I don’t want to be a huge company, I’m very happy to have a small agency where personal involvement is always the priority and where I can pick only places which I love and know inside out to join us.
I am always available to answer any questions and above all else I want you to be in a cottage that suits you, so you will become our ambassador.
Please do ask me a question about this cottage and I will give you a very honest answer.
Best Wishes
Mark - The Grove Cottages.
Property information
Spadgers is a sweet Little Flax Workers Cottage in a picturesque Medieval Village, it is full of quirky character, it has a lovely Suffolk Brick floor and a pretty open log fire to cosy up to.
The cottage has a nice little garden which has direct access to a footpath leading straight out to open countryside - ideal for dog walks.
There is a modern downstairs bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms – a double and a single.
Sorry, but the steep open stairs mean that the owners do not want to accept babies or children – and those who are less than ‘able’ should be aware of this feature of a historic cottage.
Up to 2 Pets welcome:
Banned Dogs: Please also note that if you are considering bringing a dog breed which may be thought of as a danger or a concern to others, and definitely any Banned Dogs, then Please check with us first before booking and we will discuss the suitability of our cottage for you and your pet.
There is a 20 Pound charge per pet for up to 7 nights.
Please note that cottage owners cannot accept pets that have not been paid for, so please make sure that you have paid for your pet before arrival.
Special Reduced rate for 2 guests using just one bedroom outside High Season.
Please note that if you put in the number of guests as 2 then it is assumed you will only require one bedroom.
If you want to use 2 bedrooms then you should put in the number of guests as 3, because outside High Season the larger cottages will have a reduced rate for 2 guests using only one bedroom reflecting the saving made on laundry and cleaning.
A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking and the balance due one month before arrival.
Full payment is due if the booking is less than one month away.
If you need to cancel you can receive a full refund up to 30 days before arrival.
Furthermore, you also get a 24-hour Grace Period when making a booking, during which you can cancel and get a full refund.
Neighbourhood information
Long Melford is one of Suffolk's famous unspoilt Medieval villages, with the longest historic Highstreet in England, it was the backdrop for the Lovejoy TV series and is full of interesting shops, restaurants, pubs, and antique warehouses, it even has an excellent Brewery you can visit and sample the craft beers they produce.
On foot there are a network of footpaths to explore, including an old railway line to Lavenham, now a nature trail you can pick up from near the local pub, a short walk across the green.
We encourage visitors to take advantage of Willow Tree Farm Shop, a short drive or cycle ride away, near Glemsford – there are many more Farm Shops to be found in the nearby environs.
The farmers market which is held on the second Saturday of the month, showcases a number of small-scale but really interesting local producers
Long Melford is a bustling Medieval Village, just off the beautiful village green with its wonderful wool church are two stately homes which have many events like the very popular Tudor Re-enactments at Kentwell Hall and Easter Egg Hunts at Melford Hall.
