Company information
Our love for Syros and deep respect for the history of Ano Syros were the driving forces behind the restoration of this house, a life project born from a personal journey.
Behind this transformation are Yiannis, Nikos, and Marion (interior designer), who combined inspiration, care, and a sense of responsibility to highlight the home’s original identity, preserving its essence while giving it a renewed sense of beauty and function.
Our connection to Syros began unexpectedly. From the very first visit, we felt a deep love for the island. We were captivated by its architecture, the quality of services, its cultural depth—but above all, its people. For us, they are the island’s greatest treasure.
Since then, Syros has become an essential part of our lives. We returned year after year, eager to reconnect with its unique energy. In 2021, we decided to create a place of our own in Ano Syros—a peaceful, light-filled retreat we could enjoy and share with guests who value quality, aesthetics, and the effortless charm of the island.
We look forward to welcoming you with the same care and respect we offer to a dear friend. Our goal is for you to feel at ease, inspired, peaceful, and deeply connected to this place. We are always available for anything you may need and, most importantly, to help you discover the true soul of Syros.
Property information
An authentic stone house in Ano Syros with panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and Ermoupoli, located in the heart of the medieval settlement. A unique place that feels as if it hovers above the Aegean. Filled with light, calm, and vintage details, with unobstructed views throughout, this stone-built retreat radiates warmth, history, and genuine character. Ideal for couples, digital nomads, artists, writers, and anyone seeking inspiration, peace, or a meaningful reset.
Built around 1900, the house has been preserved in its original form, with the stonework and architecture untouched by time. Historical maps from 1890–1900 show that it stands right on the natural boundary of Ano Syros’s old fortification, a rare landmark that carries the island’s memory.
The open-plan layout allows the living space and bedroom to flow together harmoniously, creating a sense of openness and continuity. Natural light prevails, and the sea is visible from nearly every corner—even from the comfort of the double bed.
The kitchen, fully equipped and with a beautiful view, features vintage-style appliances and mid-century-inspired furniture and lighting. The bathroom, with natural stone sinks, wooden surfaces, and ambient lighting, completes the home’s sense of refined simplicity.
At the back, a spacious wardrobe area and a low wooden staircase lead to a minimal loft-style space (ceiling height 1.27m, parental supervision required), with two single mattresses, a Zen-style nightstand, adjustable lighting, and a window overlooking the view.
The balcony completes the experience, overlooking the Aegean and Ermoupoli, with Saint George’s church rising proudly beside it.
Tradition continues here, with love and care. Nymfea welcomes you to a stay that touches the heart.
Neighbourhood information
Our neighborhood is located in the heart of the historic settlement of Ano Syros, just 30 meters up a small stairway from the famous Piatsa, the main square of the village. There, you will find some of the island’s best spots: tavernas serving homemade food, traditional cafés, authentic meze places, atmospheric bars, and small shops with local handmade products and souvenirs.
Only 40 meters from the house is Maison de Meze, one of the most popular venues in Ano Syros. It serves traditional small dishes and beverages, and also operates a store offering local products, from cheeses and jams to wines. A favorite spot for coffee, meze, and quality shopping, all in a warm and welcoming setting.
Just 230 meters away lies Kamara, the largest and most accessible entrance to Ano Syros, the perfect starting point for a walk through the village’s cobblestone alleys.
Right next to the house is the Markos Vamvakaris Museum, dedicated to the iconic musician who was born here — a cultural landmark deeply tied to the area’s identity.
In just 7–8 minutes on foot (5 minutes by car or 15 minutes via the free local bus), you can reach the historic center of Ermoupoli, with its charming streets and neoclassical architecture.
The neighborhood exudes calm but also a quiet liveliness, tradition, genuine character, and a timeless atmosphere that captivates visitors. The location is ideal for those who want to experience Ano Syros from within, taste the local culture, and enjoy the most authentic side of Syros.
