Villa Thimari is nestled in the heart of Agios Petros, one of the oldest villages in Andros. Located a mere 3 km northeast of the main port town, Gavrio, this villa has a total area of 155 square meters, including the two terraces, and it can easily house 4 guests. It is also possible to rent the charming Thimari cottage, a small and cozy adjoining house on the lower floor, which is perfect for a couple with a child.
In addition to offering recommendations for the best experiences and sights that Andros has to offer, I would be happy to help you with arranging car rentals or professional catering services for receptions or events during the summer season.
I wish you a very warm welcome to Greece!
This wonderful land has always had a special place in my heart and an important role in my life.
After exploring many Greek islands, I was enchanted by Andros. I knew that it could become my home and a cherished retreat where I could return again and again. I am now happy to share it with you too!
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I will be glad to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
The island of Andros can be reached by regular ferries from the port of Rafina on the Greek mainland. The frequent KTEL buses will transport you from the Athens International Airport (ATH) to Rafina (a 30-minute ride). Ferries go directly to the port of Gavrio (a 2-hour journey) from where it is only a short drive of 10 minutes to Villa Thimari in the hills 5 km from the port. If you want to visit the islands further to the south Gavrio is the perfect point of departure, as ferries leave from Gavrio to Tinos, Mykonos, Paros, and Naxos.
Although it is very close to the mainland, Andros is one of the least touristic islands of the Cyclades. Here you can enjoy the unspoiled beauty of a pristine landscape that has remained almost untouched for centuries. The delicious and varied cuisine of Andros is based on locally produced olive oil, dairy and meat products, fruit and almonds, sweets and liqueurs, and of course freshly caught fish and seafood. Although the east side of the island, with the town of Chora, is further from the port of arrival, it attracts more tourists. It is only a 30-minute drive from Villa Thimari to the secluded Vitali beach in its beautiful natural setting and from there you can explore the many small beaches along the east coast. However many of the best beaches and several tourist attractions are located on the south-western side of the island, easily and quickly accessible from Villa Thimari. For example, the popular tourist resort of Batsi is only a 7 km drive down the coast. There is a small scuba-diving school at the port of Gavrio and the nearest beach is Agios Petros, with its golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and windsurfing facilities. This is closely followed by a succession of beaches, all of them well sheltered from northerly breezes. Thanks to an extensive network of over 100 kilometers of well-maintained and clearly-marked footpaths and hiking routes, you can set out to explore the natural beauty of the island on foot.
