Apricot House Roccascalegna is a picturesque and historic village within the province of Chieti and part of the Abruzzo region of Italy. It has a population of around 1200 The XVI century castle dominates the town and is built upon a VI century earlier foundation. The vista towards the Majella National Park is itself stunning. Set in the beautiful ancient hamlet of Roccascalegna, Apricot House is nestled under its imposing famous castle. With 2 double & 1 twin bedded rooms, the house can house 6/7 persons. There are 3 bathrooms, a patio dining area, brick BBQ & 2 balconies. This is an ideal location to base yourselves (close to the sea, Lake Bomba and mountains) or just enjoy the atmosphere this unique village provides. Restaurants, bars and local transport are close-by. A new kitchen has recently been installed
Places to visit BORGO DI GESSO GESSOPALENA (5 Kms, 12 min drive) Description: Ancient village of Gessopalena or village of silence, is located on the eastern side of the Majella. The name derives from the Latin "gypsum" due to the presence in the territory of crystalline rocks from which the gypsum is obtained. The village is possible to visit and admire the houses entirely built with this type of stone. CASCADE DEL VERDE DI BORRELLO (34 km, 37 minutes by car) Description: The "Del Rio Verde" waterfalls are the highest natural waterfalls in the Apennines, and on the rock face there are three distinct jumps. Rio Verde, whose springs are located on the border with Molise and is one of the tributaries of the Sangro river. WATERVIVE Taranta Peligna ( 23 km, 42 minutes by car) Description: the Acquevive river park is located on the 2 banks of the Aventino river and is one of the places of Abruzzo not to be missed. It has an equipped fitness path, botanical museum, picnic area. SOURCES OF THE GREEN RIVER
