Neighbourhood information

“Sanjo-dori” area is a very traditional and beautiful place with lots of delicious local restaurants and traditional souvenirs shops. NIjo-jo Castle will overwhelm you because of the solemn atmosphere. The castle is the famous place where Japanese history got changed hugely, so if you are interested in Japanese history especially Edo period, you will definitely have fun to visit here. Karasumaoike area has many Japanese cafe where you can have Matcha (green tea) and Matcha flavored sweets. If you have not tasted it yet, you should try it in here! If you are the person who are interested in Japanese modern culture, Kyoto International Manga Museum is highly recommended! You can pick the one you want to read out of “Manga wall” (about 140 meters length) ,those come from all over the world! If you want to experience something Japanese-ish, you should put on rental Kimono and walk the traditional street in this city:)
