Nestled beneath our home it is a private and practical base for your Far North stay with your own entrance outdoor area and everything you need to relax. Perfect for solo travellers couples or professionals the flat offers a quiet neighbourhood setting while still being close to the coast. It is just a 2 minute drive to beautiful Coopers Beach and 3 minutes drive to Mangonui Village where you will find coastal walks local cafes historic charm and great fish and chips. A great choice for guests who want comfort privacy and easy access to all the highlights of Doubtless Bay without the busy holiday crowd
We moved to Northland in August after six years living in the Australian outback, where we owned and operated guest accommodation. Now semi-retired, we’ve settled in Mangonui and opened The Garden Flat, a practical, self-contained space designed for comfort, privacy, and ease. Our hosting style is shaped by experience. We value clear communication, guest wellbeing, and a straightforward approach. We live upstairs and are available if needed, but we respect your space and aim to make your stay relaxed and hassle free. Whether you're here for work or to explore the Far North, we’re happy to share local tips or simply let you enjoy the area at your own pace. Our Topsy Turvey self-contained accommodation offers what we ourselves appreciate most, clean, comfortable accommodation with a good breakfast and a quiet place to return to.
Mangonui is a historic fishing village with a relaxed atmosphere, waterfront cafés, and small local shops. From the flat, it’s only a few minutes’ drive to both Mangonui and Coopers Beach, where you can enjoy safe swimming and walks along the sand. The wider Doubtless Bay area offers plenty to explore, including scenic coastal drives, local markets, and day trips further north to Cape Reinga or the Karikari Peninsula. It’s a friendly, easy-going community that gives guests a real taste of life in the Far North.
