Property information

This 150 year old home is nestled in the mountains less than 2 hours north of Spokane. Opened as a mission in 1873, its 43 acres were home to the Sisters of Providence and later to a convent for Dominican nuns who ran a school on site. The main house was once the Mother Superior’s quarters and office. It also contained a chapel, now the two-story-high living room that welcomes guests upon entry. Reminders of the property’s history abound, including religious statues, a cross on the gymnasium and “Crown of Thorn” trees planted by the nuns. The property features a gazebo built in the 1930s & original fire hydrants. The large, square, wood-frame house, painted white and surrounded by white railed fences is as pristine as the grounds. It’s been completely modernized, but still has the second-story porch where the Mother Superior would greet visitors. Inside, it’s warm and refreshingly uncluttered.

Neighbourhood information

We have a collection of area maps & pamphlets in the living room/front lobby. On property, enjoy nature at one of our many outdoor seating areas, make use of the bird watching book & binoculars in your room, read a book in the hammock, stroll the grounds. Take advantage of the historical property tour offered by request. You’re also invited to help feed the deer or harvest herbs for breakfast. We are located in between Kettle Falls and Colville. In town we have some fun antique shops including Old Apple Warehouse, a craft vendor market – Oak Street Market, Auto View Drive-In Theatre, Kettle Falls Historical Center, Woodland Productions performance theatre, and China Bend Winery is a beautiful 30 mile drive along the Columbia. The area also has great hiking. A couple of our favorites are Sherman Point Loop which is a walk with beautiful views (Discovery Pass required) and Mill Butte Trail in Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge.
