Located just steps away from Dam #4 on the C&O Canal & Potomac River. (C&O mile marker 84.6) Perfect for a getaway or romantic weekend. You can hike & bike the C&O Canal, bring your kayak, canoe & bikes, fish or swim in the river. Sit on the porch and listen to the rumble of the water falling over the dam. Local lore is this was the home of a canal lock keeper or the gate house keeper. Secluded location away from town. NOT A PARTY HOUSE; owner on site in garage apartment. Main bed is a queen, site does not have an option for queen beds.
I have a love of old houses & buildings; I wish I could save them all. I try my hardest to restore the properties to original but with modern amenities. The fact that the springhouse actually has water coming from under it is pretty awesome. You would be surprised how many people don't know what a springhouse or spring is. I would like to travel more but that four-letter word "work:" gets in the way. I will be available by cell phone, text or thru the app. Please text or use the app with any questions or if anything is needed. Feel free to call if needed, but you will most likely need to leave a message and I'll call you back. I live on site (separte house) at the Springhouse 1803 property, my son lives on site (garage apartment) at the Lock Keepers property
Close to Antietam Battlefield and the town of Sharpsburg-9.8 miles. Shepardstown, WV is 14 miles away (Shepard University). Boonsboro, MD - 13 miles (Nora Roberts). Funkstown, MD (antiques) is 14 miles away. Williamsport, MD is 8.2 miles away (C&O Canal/Cushwa Basin/Aquaduct). The City of Hagerstown is about 16 miles away (The MD Theater, City Park, Wash Co Art Museum). car needed, no public transport available, unless you get uber or lyft, but I do not know if they would come this far out
