What a beautiful place! The first thing I said to my wife when we got into the room was, “I want my bedroom to be like this!” It is so beautifully decorated and well-kept. We arrived extremely early and were allowed to check-in early and have breakfast (cannot say that this is the norm, and should be an expectation, this is just our experience). The bath is lovely and the water-pressure from the shower is amazing…..possibly the best shower I’ve had! We appreciated how close it is to the National Park and the Grand Canyon. The staff were very helpful and so welcoming. We managed to book all of our excursions through the hotel and all of our questions (of which there were many!) were answered. If I were to revisit Zhangjiajie, I would stay at this hotel without hesitation. Oh, and a special thank you for collecting us from the train station!

Very spacious rooms, comfortable beds, nice space. It's located next to the Zimugang entrance which is less busy than others. More tranquil surroundings, but still a few restaurants available around. The host Anthony was very helpful, arranged our park entrance tickets in advance, and was always here to answer any questions we had. The breakfast was plentiful and filling & there's also an option to have dinner at the hotel. Overall a great experience and I'd stay here again if I had a chance.

​Review for Merlot Crystal, Zhangjiajie​​ Our stay at the Merlot Crystal was the highlight of our trip to Zhangjiajie! This place truly deserves a 5-star rating. First and foremost, the location is absolutely perfect. It strikes a brilliant balance between easy access to the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and offering a peaceful, comfortable retreat after a day of hiking. The views of the quartz-sandstone peaks from the hotel are simply breathtaking. The service was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and provided great advice for planning our daily excursions. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very thoughtfully designed. It was so relaxing to come back to such a comfortable and stylish space. We also have to compliment the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast buffet had a great variety of both Chinese and Western options, giving us a perfect start to each day. The dinners we had were delicious and used high-quality ingredients. Merlot Crystal is more than just a place to sleep; it's an essential part of the magical Zhangjiajie experience. We left feeling rejuvenated and with wonderful memories. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

the room was lovely with a view and air conditioned and clean. the people running the hotel were very helpful to us as foreigners. they drove us to the Southgate entrance of Zhangjiajie national park which a 4 min drive and cooked us dinner for 40 yuan which was very helpful as the area is more quiet. this might be an option for you if they are available that night. there is also a restaurant across the road which was great! the hotel also offers a basic breakfast for free. Theres a busier area with fruit market stalls and more restaurants about a 20 min walk. the lady working there was very patient with us and helped us book all of our national park and day trip tickets (i would suggest doing this before you come to avoid missing out in busy seasons).

It was a lovely smaller style family operated hotel. The staff was super friendly and always ready to support any question we would have.
