We were suspicious of the glowing reviews but having stayed here, they are all thoroughly deserved. Udaya and his team were wonderful throughout our stay. The room was huge, spotlessly clean with every comfort taken care of. The breakfasts were delicious with a different Sri Lankan delicacy each day. Lovely to have the plunge pool too. Highly recommended.

The food cooked by his wife was amazing—made with quality ingredients, prepared beautifully, and full of bold, authentic flavor. Easily one of the top three meals we had in Sri Lanka. If you're planning a trip to Anuradhapura or Mihintale to explore the sacred Buddhist sites, and you're looking for something authentic and off the tourist trail, stay in Mihintale. It's rich with temples and spiritual atmosphere. Stay at Janaka’s place, ask him for advice, and you won’t be disappointed.

If you stay a week or more a kitchen can be used. Every day around 18.00 hours you can see elephants quite nearby at one of the thee lakes. 2 or 3 or 6. Very exiting. They come to drink water. Specially this place is very close to the town as well as the Sri Maha Bodhiya and Ruwanweliseya.

The owner organized a private bird watching tour at the Haparana lake, which was great and even for free. The owner even managed to organize 1st class tickets for a train ride from Kandy to Ella with short notice when everyone else failed to do so! The staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful! It is very rare to find a staff like this! We highly recommend this place and would be more than happy to return to this resort again.
