The hotel is at an excellent location, with everything from restaurants and shops right there on a short walk. The hotel promised to be pet friendly and they were not only friendly but amazingly friendly! Fully recommended to travel with your pets as both the room and facilities in general are great. They had some goodies in the entrance to welcome the pets (treats, wet wipes, doggy bags) that were also great!

Australian War Memorial

A striking structure that has commemorated the fallen since the end of WWII, this isn’t just a memorial but acts as a national archive, museum and art gallery. The courtyard forms an impressive entrance, while the bronze inscriptions on the walls mark the life of every Australian who has lost their life in battle.

A place of national treasure with the names of all the martyrs, relics and event scriptures from all the wars that Australia has fought. Separate sections for WWI, WWII and the other wars stories. You will need a good 2-2.5 hours to go through this place.

The War Memorial was incredible, but very busy.

The War Memorial was incredible, but very busy. Parking available is limited to 4 hours, and you really need more time, or better still, two days, as it gets quite overwhelming trying to take everything in. They also offer regular free guided tours - fabulous, as the personal touch of a tour guide talking and guiding is so much better than than following and having to navigate using and IPad.

We had arranged for two family members who had died overseas in World War 1 to be honoured with a Last Post Ceremony. The people at the museum were warm and welcoming, thoroughly informed and supported us through the process. They staged a moving tribute and at all times felt it was their privilege to honour our loved ones. Lest we forget.

Definitely worth a visit.

Definitely worth a visit. The museum is huge, so much to see. High quality exhibits. The tours were very well organised and the tour guides extremely knowledgeable. And it's all completely free - donations accepted but not expected.

The Last Post Ceremony is a must. Very moving.

The Last Post Ceremony is a must. Very moving. We were invited to lay a wreath during the ceremony to commemorate my Great Uncle. Totally unexpected but the Memorial staff we’re so well organised and everything was provided for us to participate. The whole Memorial is well managed and respectful to our veterans. Take advantage of the staff and their knowledge. They were incredibly professional and helpful and they have excellent knowledge of the memorial and the history within its walls.

Museum part of the Australian War Memorial gave me the stories and horrors of war. Give yourself plenty of time to read and learn, it is scary to read what us humans can do to each other, important for all of us to understand the misery of war. Hall of Memory, The Unknown Soldier all who worked in War Memorial told us not to miss. Don't Miss It. It took me to a silence, respect and somewhere within it will complete your visit.
