Perfectly clean and noiseless room with a small backyard patio, very good bed and shower. Location is superb, easy to arrive and exit from the city with car. Spatious parking lot right in front of the hotel for 10 euros. Railway station very near also. Breakfast was to my taste. Overall judgement: Excellent price/ quality ratio.

Roman Theatre & Amphitheatre

A spectacular symbol of Mérida’s past, the Roman Theatres wasn’t always so well known. Almost completely buried for centuries, this now-iconic landmark was finally unearthed in 1910. Today its 2000-year-old marble columns and statues have been restored to their former glory, and the ancient stage is the setting for productions of Greek and Roman plays during the city’s annual summer theatre festival.

What I loved most about the Theatre is that they are not scared to use it. We went to see a play there - Alejandro and it was spectacular - they even brought a horse onto the stage! The only thing I found strange is that it said 10pm start and only started at 11pm. It made for a very late night and although we don't speak a word of Spanish it was just the experience itself that was amazing! The acting is that good that you could deduce what was happening. Highly recommend it.

I am really interested in Roman history and this was a real suprise to me. I found it traveling through Spain and discovered it almost by accident. Anyone into Roman history has to see this place. It's fantastic.
