Beware of the recreators.

Beware of the recreators. My first morning there, I was attempting to purchase tickets online using my phone. Their site was very cumbersome. I stopped to rest on a bench while attempting to purchase tickets. As a consequence was made sport of by a recreator with a tour group. This person was condescending bordering on arrogant and rude. I witnessed staff acting similarly with other guests on several occasions. It was not my first trip to this location, but it is most assuredly my last. I have also cut off all donations that I made to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

If you are going to be in Williamsburg for several days, it might be worth looking online for special offers on annual passes - often availble early and late in the season, and can work out cheaper than buying 2 day passes.

We only spent one day here.

We only spent one day here. While not everything is open every day, we easily spent our entire day walking around, taking in tours and other special performances and seeing the trade shops at work. We could definitely have spent multiple days to "see it all" but at the same time, one day felt like a worthwhile visit too. We especially appreciated the older gentleman volunteer at the information desk who, when he discovered part of our connection to Colonial Williamsburg is my daughter's love of the American Girl story Felicity, searched his memory for pieces of the Felicity story and marked on a map locations that connected to parts of her story. :)

This is a wonderfully place to see real history.

This is a wonderfully place to see real history. Buildings are original and the folks portraying real people from history are fantastic. Lots of tours or you can walk around on your own and enter any bldg. w/a flag outside. Newly renovated museum worth a look see.

Many years ago I visited Williamsburg with my small children. This time I returned with my husband as senior citizens. It is so sad to see how commercialized this history treasure has become. I am not going back again.

Be sure to download their app. This was the third time I have been there and each visit gets better, because I plan more thoroughly finding out what will be happening there during my visit and making reservations accordingly. Don't just show up! You need to plan ahead.

Nice location. Close to downtown, without feeling like you’re on the highway. Spacious living area. My friend and I were able to get to Colonial Williamsburg in about 15 minutes . Would’ve been shorter however, the city is working on road construction. The 2BR/2BA was a nice change. We had much more room than a hotel room at about the same price point. We were only there one night but the amenities looked clean and they had everything as advertised. We even had a nice balcony. Would stay there again.

Driving over to my unit, which seemed not like what the photos I'd seen had advertised (e.g. apartments looking over a swimming pool), I became wary. I arrived at a motel-like space as opposed to hotel. However, as soon as I stepped into my room, I was won over. It was a gorgeously decorated spacious room, with the requisite Colonialistic artwork you'd expect from Colonial Williamsburg, plus mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. I was instantly immersed in comfort.
