Sabalo Lodge was the best place we stayed in CR. The area is huge, you can fully enjoy the privacy and the jungle with all what it brings. You will see plenty of animals in the lodge itself, on top of it there is a private trail to explore. Anouk and Kevin are amazing hosts, they will make sure your dreams will become true! The lodge is in the middle of the jungle and I strongly suggest to explore all what it has to offer from various nearby activities and wider area to amazing cuisine made of the local products by Kevin and Esmeralda who discovered an art in mixing French and Costa Rican tastes! Highly recommend not to miss this place as rare and precious!

Fauna Lodge Corcovado – A Home in the Jungle What an amazing place! Fauna Lodge is a brand-new accommodation where everything is perfectly taken care of. Alfonso and Anna immediately make you feel at home, allowing you to fully relax. On top of the warm hospitality, the dinner here is an absolute must. After dining here the first two nights, we didn’t have to think twice: we knew we wanted to enjoy the delicious, fresh meals again on the third night. With the sounds of the jungle in the background and relaxing music playing, it’s a truly unique experience. Alfonso and Anna make sure you don’t miss a thing. They think of everything and even provide excellent tips to explore the area more thoroughly. They gave us an incredible alternative route to experience the inland scenery, which turned out to be a highlight in itself! From the moment we booked, the communication was seamless and clear. They also helped us arrange two unforgettable day trips to Corcovado: one from Los Planes to truly immerse ourselves in nature, and another to Sirena for wildlife spotting. Both rangers were incredibly enthusiastic and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. It’s no surprise that we really didn’t want to leave. Fauna Lodge is a dream destination, and we can’t wait to return one day! 🌿

Family of 4 stayed in 2 of the 3 cabins. The cabins were beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. The views were amazing, sitting on the rocking chairs on the balcony was perfect, air con was appreciated too. The location was really convenient as the trips depart early in the morning and the boats/ferries depart straight from the beach close by and the rest of the village is a short walk away. Shirley gave us a choice of a good breakfast each morning and a reservation in the restaurant if needed, she also booked us the return ferry in case it was busy.

We liked everything! the very friendly owners, our cabin with a small swimming pool and a terrace with fantastic views. one could just stay there and relax, watching so many birds passing by. We had a lot of privacy and only green around us. Breakfast was delivered to the room in the morning. we could choose what we wanted and at what time. There is also a very good (and inexpensive) restaurant downstairs. We just loved it!

The view was amazing and the staff are wonderful.

the property is beautiful with so many green zones and the view is spectacular and breath taken. with just a couple minutes to the beach and between from Drake bay and the airport with also great hosting , we’re just wish to stay a bit more longer, we’re love it very much .

We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff were so lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good, fruit, eggs, bread or pancakes each morning, accompanied by fruit juice and coffee. Very quick and economical laundry service too. Comfy beds and a very quiet location. A short walk to bars, restaurants, and the beach. Spacious room and lovely hot shower. It was one of our favourite stays on our 3 week trip and we wished we could stay for longer!

I was here for 5 nights oct 7-12 2022, the rainy season. -Arraigned airport pickup before i arrived. I arrived at airport and they were pulling up as i walked out the door. A very nice man that is the hotel driver, doesnt speak much english, drove me from airport to hotel, about 30-45 min drive depending on road conditions. We had to drive through a river that was not too deep, near airport. -The hotel was very nice, i was greeted by one of their sons that spoke english, as well as the mother and father who run the business. I paid with visa debit for the stay and cash for the driver. -Was shown to my cabin/bungalow. It was great, 3/4 sides is screen walls with curtains, a nice big bathroom, looks like brand new wood, 2 nice beds, even live flowers. The cabin has a balcony, with chairs and light, its nice for reading at night, view of surrounding forest/lawn. There is very nice flower bush right outside that humming birds love, you can hear/see a humming bird at least 1 every 10 min. The cabin is a short walk away from the main building, down a garden trail. Nice air flow because of the screens, and there is a ceiling fan too. Many outlets to charge things. -The food was GREAT. I am a very picky eater, i eat with my eyes (like a bird as my mother said), and i am mostly vegetarian except for some deep fried fish and chicken because it is good, they asked me what i perfered, and altho there was a language barrior as the mother and father dont speak english, they understood my meals and made a effort to give me food i would like. Fresh juice daily. -Drake bay is about 1 hour walk, with a bridge and one steep hill (the river crossing is only on the way to airport). Its a scenic walk, i did it a few times. Most times it was raining, but still nice. Or the hotel offers drives for a cost. They did tell me that i would get one free transport to and from town per day.

Incredibly beautiful location with a jungle feel right on the beach. The Amaya family and everyone involved are kind and very well organized - not used to such all-round service when traveling, we felt truly spoiled.
