It was the most wonderful place, a very special place, very calm, it felt very personal and exclusive The rooms were much more than just a room, having your own front door straight into the garden and pool area, they were incredibly clean and the bathroom is such a treat, it really connects you to the nature all around, absolutely fantastic and super clean also, great shower, very comfy large bed. The staff are brilliant, nothing is too much trouble and the food is fabulous, as in the rest of Sri Lanka and indeed anywhere, the local Sri lankan dishes were definitely the best and I would suggest people choose these, taste and presentation was superb. We would definitely love to come back

Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge. Booked for two nights, extended for four. One of my favorite stays in Sri Lanka! Beautiful teracce, spotless clean and modern rooms. Also, the price is great. We stayed in similar rooms in South which were 4x more expensive. It’s just 10min away from the centre and believe me - Kandy is much better outside the centre :D You can order your food there or just uber it. The host Harshana is wonderful. He has travelled/worked abroad and we had a lot to talk about. He helped with the visa extension too, very grateful for that. P.S. Don’t go trough the mountains, follow directions in booking.

A car rental service is available at the lodge. We absolutely loved our stay at rock shade chalet!! The rooms were very comfortable and bright. The staff were absolutely exceptional - they were so attentive and polite. It was my boyfriend’s birthday during our stay and they surprised us with a cake! They grow a lot of their own food that they use in their restaurant so it’s all fresh produce. Excellent all round

Property is run by very welcoming and nice family. We were warmly greeted. Very good breakfast, but too much for us, and they changed it according to our wishes. Also they arranged for us jeep safari in Minerya national park (as per their advice due to elephant's path) and we saw a lot of those incredible animals. Special thanks to Ravi - family member who speaks very good English and advised us for many things.

For this price, the quality is very good! The family is also very friendly. Location is a 5 minute drive from the centre, which was no problem for us because we had our own tuktuk. It is a quiet and calm location, and you can see hornbills and other animals in the garden! The breakfast was traditional and good, but maybe they can ask guests what they would like more/less and adjust a little.
