Udawalawe National Park is 16 km from Maika safari lodge. Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is 50 km away. We really liked the hotel! We used it as a stopover to visit Udalawawe National Park. When we arrived, we were first given a welcome drink and then we were taken straight to the elephant orphanage for feeding time. Our hosts made every effort to fulfill our every wish. The room was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. We used the pool to cool off and enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the accommodation. The Sri Lankan dinner buffet was the best we had during our stay. We particularly liked this accommodation because of its location and the possibility of booking a safari tour. The very next day we were able to set off from the hotel with the guide and the car for our 4-hour tour. We had a lot of fun and it was an unforgettable experience!

Our second time to udawalawa and can not fault anything with respect to our stay at jungle safari cottage and our safaris within the park. hotel offers outstanding service and excellent food. On top of that its conveniently located near the park.

The owners were some of the kindest people we met and went out of their way to give us advice and a smile! The owners talk to us very well. Dinner was perfect, very romantic and delicious buffet. We also booked a safari through them which we love, it was just the two of us in the jeep and we saw more elephants with a knowledgeable driver ( sujee ) .Definitely getting old. Both WiFi and private parking are available at the lodge free of charge. An amazing guest house with three rooms, and a large common area, located at the foot of dramatic and lush hill. We managed some very nice birding just sitting in the garden. A truly relaxing setting in nature. The staff was very friendly and efficient, and the meals were delicious.

A buffet, Full English/Irish or Asian breakfast can be enjoyed at the property. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving American, Cajun Creole and Chinese cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. Excellent accomodation for the price with super friendly and helpful hosts. They organised a private 4 hr safari including breakfast and lunch for $60 each. We saw so much wildlife and it seemed to go on for much longer than the agreed 4 hours! The driver / guide managed to find lots of interesting animals. Lunch in the park overlooking the lake was a highlight too. The accomodation is a 5 minute drive to the park, and the gardens surrounding the bungalow are beautifully landscaped. The property was spotlessly clean too.

A toaster and kettle are also provided. The staff were nice and they were really reactive whenever we needed something. Perfect stay ! They helped me organize the safari tour, which was really great! The food there was incredible. And I got to olay badminton and Karam with their son, which was a beautiful experience.
