I had an absoulutely beautiful experience staying at Mystay. Hosts were incredibly attentive to anything I needed, they were always available to provide great info about nearby spots and prices. While Mawanella in not a main tourist hotspot there are some gorgeous spots to explore if you like nature such as river with waterfalls, several hiking spots and trekking paths through the rainforest, it is an awesome location for nature lovers. Also, it's proximity to Kandy and Elefant sanctuary puts you in a great location to explore surrounding attractions. Hosts were always able to arrange local transport to wherever I needed to go and for amazing (local) price, can't thank them enough. Breakfast was wonderful, home made and super tasty. They also provided fruit and tea for my relaxing time, also plenty of bottled water all the time. Place is very spaceous and comfortable with garden around the house, there is also a lovely erected area, like a treehouse, for you to enjoy, that is surrounded with greenery, a great place to just relax and see some birds etc. All in all, a wonderful family that I'm happy to have met and I'm so thankful for all their help with information and transport. Hope I'll be able to stay there again sometines in the future.

The wonderful caretakers - they are lovely people that could not do enough for us - and they cooked the most fantastic meals for us each evening - which we ate on our balcony - also Andrew the hotel transport manager - what a great lovely gentleman - he took us to the local temple - and arranged elephant excursions and lifts for us to the hotel from peacock village for breakfast each morning - genuine wonderful Sri Lankan people that made our trip with them a wonderful experience we will never forget - thoroughly recommend peacock village to anyone visiting pinnawala

The view is just out of this world. Great place for the escape to the nature and fresh air. The host, Inthizar made our trip smooth with all small details being organised including transportation, suggestions of place to visit and small hike to the breathtaking view point. What an amazing place! Everything was superb. From the incredible staff who anticipated my every need, to the delicious food and the variety of activities in the area. I was truly surprised by how wonderful the place was. The property is not only perfect for those who appreciate comfort, but also for those looking to explore the nearby cultural sights. The team at the house went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable! The attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made our experience exceptional. Well I don’t know where to start. I could write a book about this place. We were in love from the minute we checked in, the family made us feel so welcome. Our room was huge lovely quirky little pond in the room with a few fish. The bathroom was really really stunning made out of all recycled rocks and the room was immaculately clean. Little pool to cool down at the end of the day, amazing breakfast. We had a cooking class which was offered by Gayashan and we also had a barbecue with the family which included music. This family quickly became a part of our family. They couldn’t do enough for us. I miss the children they are so lovely, also not forgetting Bruno, kitty and their cockerel. We booked Gayashan for the rest of our tour of Sri Lanka (15 days) and what an amazing guy he is. He’s friendly, he’s funny, he has an amazing sense of humour, he goes above and beyond to make your stay Just perfect. I cannot wait to come back. This is the first time to Sri Lanka and it will certainly not be the last. ❤️❤️❤️ I waited until I was back in the UK to do my review and let’s just say I miss you so much my brother from another mother. The bond between Gayashan and my husband will last a lifetime.

The first stop in Sri Lanka for me, my wife and our 17 months year old was Green Leaves Garden and we can highly recommend it! This was a really good way to get to know Sri Lankan culture. Anushka, the host, is such a nice and genuine person and he will help you with everything. We got to eat wonderful local food cooked by his family (if you eat vegan/vegetarian it's not a problem, in fact the opposite), go on hiking, visited different tempels, did a jeep safari, went to a herbal garden, a biological garden, a tea factory, even visited a funeral and got to know his wonderful family and friends. If you want to see elephants we really recommend you to see them in their natural habitat on a safari instead of visiting other places such as the orphanage (when we did research, several sources witnessed of the elephants being mistreated). Anushka picked us up from the airport and drove us to our next destination in Weligama after seven days. He even helped us with a missing bag from the airport. On our trips we always had interesting conversations about Sri Lankan history and current affairs and he was a professional guide on the different activities. We lived in a "simple" mud house which was very common back in the days. The room was spacious, had three double beds, a refrigerator, bathroom and air conditioner. We were in Sri Lanka for 30 days and spend seven days here and it was a great decision. If you want to get to know the real Sri Lanka, learn about it's culture and get new friendships, this is a great way to do it!
