The owner was fantastic, really friendly and full of great local knowledge for things to see and do. I'd go back just to hang out with the dogs if nothing else, they're fantastic. The kitchen was great, the location is great.

Our favorite spot in town! For eating, chilling, and sleeping! A little heaven of tasty food, good tunes, and sea views. The hosts went beyond expectations to give us a good experience. Bonus points for Andres’ beautiful art pieces decorating the space and their sustainability initiatives. Loved our time here!

this is really amazing place in Ecuador. Maybe the best hotel we visited during of our trip ... really very nice garden, bungalovs .. everything was so comfortable and we spend there 3 nights. I have to reccomend this hotel and - ocean and beach in front of the hotel - no big vawes, you can swim there without no problem and hotel lends beach equipment for free. Tasty and big breakfast, excellent jams!!! This place is = MUST BE!!!

Excellent location in a quiet town along the coast. About half the people staying there are both semi-permanently living there and returning each year which helps to create a real family atmosphere, and also really welcoming to new guests! Meeting Carlos is like coming back to your birthplace and embracing your old friend. He's a great person with an enormous heart, strong life values and good sense of humor. This great man is a soul of this place, his wonderful dogs are its mood and warmth. Nothing else matters, when you see his smile, his relationships with the dogs, listen to his stories about nature and see how his love for life leads him to great purposes.

Owner is friendly and he speaks english - so rare in Ecuador. His dogs are very friendly too, you can see the good owner. There was many dogs of other owners in the village, not so friendly at all. Good location as a starting point everywhere in a beautifull Machallila reserve, but maybe to close to Spondilus route, which is now more road than route.

We had a wonderful time in Guesthouse Machalilla! It's very close to beautiful Los Frailes beach and there is a lot of activities to do around the area. The owner, Carlos, was lovely, gave many useful and interesting tips and had the cutest rescued dogs. We really enjoyed spending time with him! Would recommend 100%!! Thank you so much
