Very cleaned properties in the heart of the city, everything was very close by, when we arrived we were welcomed by one friendly lady who gave a quick tour of the neighborhood and made some recommendations based on our likings. The hotel has a restaurant as well worth trying , offering traditional Albanian food.

Lovely spacious super clean room with lovely owners who were easily contactable our entire stay. We are backpackers and just stayed here the night after our hike for some comfort. Would 100% recommend staying here. It is a very new accommodation so doesn’t have many reviews yet, please don’t let this put you off booking your stay here. It was like home away from home. The location was super close to the centrum of the city and is located at the finest street where you can go shopping and eat food at the many restaurants. The rooms were brand new and super nice. All new! But the true stars are without a doubt the two owners and the staff of the hotel. We experienced true Albanian hospitality at Hotel Aleks! The whole family is so friendly and attentive. They gave us a lot of fresh figs (directly from their garden) as a welcome treat, helped us organising our transport to Valbona and provided free parking and safe luggage storage during our multi-day hike in the mountains. We also enjoyed the free bike rental to explore the city. Impressive cleanliness, exceptional helpfulness. Best hotel of our three-week journey through Albania!

The stay was very pleasant. What we liked the most was the cleanliness and hospitality. Everything was tidy, clean, and the staff was extremely polite. The owners were always there ready for any need or suggestion we had. They made you feel at home. The hotel conditions were very good, the environment quiet and suitable for a peaceful rest. And although breakfast was not included in the price, it was prepared with care and according to our wishes. Truly a place that I would recommend to spend your holidays.

    This time I saw Shkodra with different eyes.

    This time I saw Shkodra with different eyes. The city’s diversity of people and cultural mix stood out strongly, and over the weekend the lively atmosphere of parties gave it an energetic spirit. What touched me most, however, were the Catholic churches scattered around the city. Stepping into them gave me a profound sense of spirituality and peace, balancing the vibrant social scene outside. Shkodra truly holds a unique charm – a place where culture, celebration, and spirituality come together beautifully.

    It was the first time to be in Velipoje.

    It was the first time to be in Velipoje. It's not a big city but I am positively surprised. The Velipoja beach (where we were placed) was clean, the water was so clear and warm. The kids part with the toys at the center of the city was excellent. The food was good tasted, fresh and the staff was very polite.

    Five star service.

    Five star service. The staff really makes you feel like family and goes above and beyond. The animals all contribute to the farm and are so well taken care of. They’re all a part of the experience. The rooms are impeccably clean and traditional with modern upgrades (best plumbing, great AC, hotel toiletries, great shower etc), clean, crisp white sheets. All of the things you’d expect in a five star hotel, except this feels more like your own home. Gzim and his wife are wonderful and provide help whenever you need advice for local restaurants or a ride nearby. Mrizi is literally 3-4 min max by foot. I preferred staying at Vitoria over Mrizi, and would return again. My son loved it! And Breakfast was wonderful!!

    The hotel is close to the beach, which was great.

    The hotel is close to the beach, which was great. The pool was small but clean, and my son really enjoyed it. Breakfast was OK, and there are small shops nearby, along with parking available. I would have rated this 5 stars if it weren't for one issue: the cooking utensils. If you plan to book an apartment, I recommend bringing your own cooking pans, or you’ll be disappointed.

    Reviews we read of Shkoder said it's a university town with lots of biking. Not sure what those reviewers were writing about, but there weren't many bike friendly areas and the town was not as vibrant as we expected. We did spend some time in the Shiroka area on the lake a 10 minute or so drive from Shkoder and that was very nice - good restaurants and lake activities. We also went to the mountains and stayed in Theth, which was wonderful and highly recommended.
