The main reason is skiing but the other reason is the hotel! In this accommodation you’ll find everything you need. The breakfast buffet is really good and well thought out with many options. The spa is amazing, I especially enjoyed the outdoor sauna and the jacuzzi but mostly on the day that we took off from skiing because in the afternoon it gets really crowded inside and out. There’s a van that gets you to the ski lifts everyday which is an almost 3 min drive. We didn’t get the evening buffet but we loved the food in the restaurant that has quite reasonably prices and very polite and lovely stuff. The room was spacious!Guest review byEvaGreece

My family and I stayed in Borovets in early May, and even though the ski lift was out of service, we had a wonderful time. We explored several nature trails, like the scenic Beli Iskar path, which were perfect for family walks surrounded by stunning mountain views. The kids loved our horseback riding adventure through the Rila Mountains, and we easily spent a relaxing half-day at the hotel’s spa, unwinding in the pool and saunas. The hotel was nice with great view and private parking. It's a great place for a city break. The food in the restaurant was nice. What we didn't like was that the hot water in the hotel was not with optimal water temperature for a shower. At the reception they explained that they are using solar water heaters and these days the weather was cloudy. Nice slopes. Expensive hotels close to the slopes. But you can stay at any hotel and come up to the slope by car, 10..15 BGN the parking fee. The Rila hotel is cool (the indoors pool) but you need to plan in advance the stay. The purpose of our trip was skiing in Borovets. Samokov was a good value alternative to Borovets as we had a rental car. The drive between the two is very easy 10-15 minutes. There is some nice traditional restaurants in Samokov and much better value than the restaurant in the Borovets resort. If you don't mind staying outside of Borovets this is a good option to save money. There are 3 big supermarkets next to eachother in Samokov, Lidl, T market and Billa so you can get everything you need if you are self catering.Guest review byMichaelIreland - 2.0

Borovets is destroyed! Too many builders' works. Everything everywhere is covered with mud or fine muddy sand. There are many abandoned buildings in some mid-construction state. Our car was covered in mud outside and inside. My childhood memories of a nice place for fun and relaxation in the mountains were wiped out and replaced by the awful muddy place I wouldn't want to visit again. There are no sidewalks; and if some are visible, they are either completely covered with meter-deep ice and snow or partially destroyed, uneven, and muddy, so the tourists have to walk between the moving cars, especially with ski boots it's impossible to walk on the almost gone and covered-in mud sidewalk. The only good thing was the designated areas for snow sleds. This made a difference compared to other places we visited, like Bansko or Vitosha. The kids had good fun. Close to Borovets, but quieter and more traditional.
Close to Borovets, but quieter and more traditional. Lots of lovely restaurants serving local and european dishes at great prices. You cant always recognise a restaurant from outside as they look just like normal houses (not in the town centre, no menus outside, no windows looking out on to the street to see through, so best to check online or ask advice).
