- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,405 reviewsEVERYTHING. what an incredible experience staying at this hotel. we were emailed with instructions to help us get in touch with the hotel via WhatsApp. after a quick message, someone came and picked us up in a shuttle from the train and drove us to the hotel. we were greeted (by name and with hugs) by Daniela who made our stay unforgettable. she is the warmest person and made us feel like we were staying with family. we were informed that we got upgraded to a bigger room which was amazing! after checking in, I went down to ask for another pillow and Daniella checked her computer and saw an entire apartment became available with a balcony and a view of the Matterhorn and moved us to that room! she even helped carry our bags upstairs. we will absolutely be staying here when we come back for winter skiing and will be recommending this hotel to all. this hotel deserves 5 stars for service, comfort and location. Last thing you want to do after a big day of skiing is carry kids’ skis for miles or fight for a shuttle or taxi home. Staff are really amazing. They went out their way to help us track down some lost luggage. You can get your ski passes directly from the hotel. For us it actually turned out a little cheaper than getting it on the Zermatt app. There is an indoor pool and outdoor jacuzzi which the kids loved after skiing. It’s a 20min walk or a rather expensive 15CHF taxi ride to town centre. There is a good breakfast but no hotel restaurant as such for lunch or dinner. They can however order food from any restaurant so it arrives at the hotel for dinner, which can be enjoyed at the hotel. We had already been up four mountain peaks in Switzerland so we were more interested in the area than going up another peak. Great little village with no cars, only small electric vehicles. Great food, good shopping and stunning views of then Matterhorn. Nice to walk the streets with no worry of traffic. There was a small group of older local musicians dressed in traditional clothing who played at a location and then moved on to another location to play. Unfortunately there was heavy cloud cover the two days I was there and didn’t see the Matterhorn at all. Web cams at top showed nothing so didn’t go up. Gornergrat trip was worthwhile and good views of everything except the Matterhorn.i enjoyed walking round the old town.
