Great port city with many interesting things to do n nearby towns to visit. Easy walk to old port which was fabulous with lovely sights around the busy quayside. Driving around the city makes it easy to visit several places. especially to hill tops for panoramic views of Marseille, within our two-day visit. Definitely a grand place to revisit! A beautiful city with lots to see and do. The staff at the tourist office were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We booked a wine tasting excursion and a boat trip. Toulouse cafe culture is wonderful.
Toulouse cafe culture is wonderful. The architecture is also stunning. The old town streets and alleys are a joy to walk in, as is the Garonne riverside. We loved eating in the restaurants in Place Saint-George and the Place du Capitole. The basilica and the Couvent des Jacobins are stunning architecture and history. Everything in the old town is easy walking distance, mainly on the level. The whole city felt safe and very clean.
The whole city felt safe and very clean. The walk along the Coisette was very enjoyable with plenty of seats to sit and watch the world go by. Visits to both of the Islands is a must. Self catering is easy with supermarkets and fruit and veg markets close at hand. The train station is within easy walking distance and a day trip to Ventimiglia in Italy is recommended. Lots of wonderful monuments and historical buildings to visit. Transport system excellent once you have got used to it. Clean and comfortable. A multitude of cafes to choose from. Avignon is a lovely city with so much history to the town as well as close by towns. You can see most of the major sites in one day and can easily travel to other towns like Nimes and Arles. Great City. I coming here for 6 consecutive years. I just love this town. wonderful city center with a lot of shops and restaurants. The Markets are great. Easy to get around by foot or transport. Though the weather wasn’t the best we found enough to see and do in the 4 days we were there. The castle was very impressive and we had a guided tour of it. The traffic wasn’t too bad and the drivers were very courteous. In fact the French in this city were friendlier than in more frequented areas like Nice or Cannes. While there we used a pub called The Celts and I would thoroughly recommend it.
