I received a very warm welcome from the tenant and his wife. Since we were TGO hikers the tenant immediately offered to wash and dry our hiking clothes for free. The bedroom was luxury and we enjoyed a very nice breakfast in the morning The tenant and his wife where very caring towards their guests The hotel is very well located, a few steps from the railway station and the shops, and just in front of a nice public garden

Excellent location, very clean, large rooms. Tea kettle and coffee maker were very welcome. Dinner in the hotel was excellent - though we were there at a busy time and there were issues in the kitchen with new staff, so we waited a long time for our main course. When we mentioned this to the (assistant?) manager, George, he apologized, ensured that we received complimentary desserts, and the chef came out to talk with us as well as to other customers. We felt very well-cared-for and would absolutely stay again!

I can't recommend the Delrachney Lodge enough. Our room was lovely, our hosts were charming and caring, and the breakfast was amazing. On to of that, they were so concerned about us that one night when getting dinner out would be difficult they made special arrangements for us and gave us a delicious dinner at the Lodge, where they normally do not serve dinner. We will be back without question. Thanks Steve and Tracy for a great experience.

The House itself is beautiful, warm, comfortable and inviting. Friendly service, delicious breakfast. A perfect place to stay.

I had imagined Aviemore to be an old town like Pitlochry and Dunkeld, but in fact all the buildings in the Main Street seem to be fairly new, apart from the railway station. It has lots of shops selling outdoor clothing, and is not very attractive architecturally.

We went to Ballater to be close to Balmoral Castle, where we went to an artisans market on the grounds. We were there in October, so opening of other parts of the castle were not available, due to royal residence use. I would return to this beautiful part of Scotland again if given the chance, to see more of the castle.

The countryside in autumn was spectacular.

The countryside in autumn was spectacular. There are lots of local walks to suit different levels of fitness. The Spey is nearby so iconic itself and for the whisky distilleries along its banks. Interesting local shops. Fresh local produce. Nice folk. Close enough for trips to the Moray Coast and Cairngorms. Golf, fishing, garden nurseries all in easy reach.

Kingussie is ideal for people who want beautiful walks or a bit of climbing or cycling. There’s a fantastic bike shop called Bothy Bikes where you can hire e- bikes to explore the area. The scenery in this area is outstandingly beautiful. There is the potential to see local wildlife if you are quiet.

Boat of Garten is a small village which has some good features and services, including a pub, a village store, pizza shop, art gallery and historic railway station. It is well located in relation to forest walks and other outdoor activities. For any significant shopping you needs to travel nearby Aviemore, 4.5 miles away. We preferred the peace and quiet of Boat of Garten for our stay in the area.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!

Very disappointing stay.

Very disappointing stay. Staff were rude and unhelpful - especially at breakfast. Dining staff Bella’s behaviour was shockingly unprofessional and not acceptable. Dirty, smelly rooms, one with a broken bed. Complaints were brushed off with a simple “sorry.” We booked 4 rooms for family visiting from Canada and deeply regret choosing this hotel. Definitely not worth the 4-star rating.

Ours was a whistlestop tour, mainly to get our heads down for the night after a 5 hour drive. The village is beautiful with lots to see and do. We stayed at Dalgriene Guest house which I'd highly recommend. We ate at The Loft Restaurant and would definitely eat there again. I can't wait to go back and explore the village further
