- From US$154.93 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,813 reviewsWe enjoyed a very tasty dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast in the more casual area next morning. The room was well appointed though not a lot of floor space for our 2 large suitcases. There was very easy access from the car. The breakfast had plenty of choice and make your own cappuccino etc machines as well as boiling water for tea.Guest review byJennyAustralia

Lots to do and see for such a small place. Great for walking (as long as you don't mind hills) and the castle is spectacular and well worth a visit. Some excellent real ale pubs and plenty of good cafes too.Guest review byKayUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Ross is a small historic town in a lovely position with views over the countryside from the higher part and walks and places to eat and drink along the riverside..The shops in the town are rather limited with lots of charity shops but there is an excellent bookshop and some antique and gift shops. There are a number of pubs and restaurants with varying menus. There are buses to surrounding towns and villagesGuest review byjayneItaly - 10.0
Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do.
Very pretty location on the river Wye. Lots to see and do. The viewpoint at Symonds Yat rock is brilliant and the cafe at the top does lovely ice cream. Enjoyed watersports with YOFI Paddlesports and would highly recommend them, we felt very safe and had great tutorial before setting out - went on a half day canoe trip with the family and also hired some paddleboards. Ye Olde Ferrie Inn was great for food and dog friendly. Would definitely be back to the area.Guest review byLindsey - 6.0
Picking a hotel or pub that reflects your needs.
Picking a hotel or pub that reflects your needs. A small town in the middle of the forest of Dean which is a wonderful place plenty of things to see and visit but the place you stay should be relaxing when you come back to recharge for the next day of exploration. Perhaps it needs to push how it's in the right place for a wonderful area of the United Kingdom.Guest review byIan - 10.0

Cinderford was within walking distance of the start of the forest of dean. It could do with a bit of a revamp but there's some good takeaways. The locals were friendly and there's a big Tesco for self catering holidays. A lot of takeaways only took cashGuest review byWarrenUnited Kingdom - 6.0

With the rail links, it is a perfect centre for travellers, as public transport is relatively poor. Travelled by a friend's car to places like Monmouth and Coleford, and it is possible to go to Gloucester and Cheltenham by train. I didn't need to eat out much, as breakfasts were huge, and the Swan did lovely food, including sandwiches. Not a lot to do in Lydney, but as a solo traveller, I felt very comfortable sitting in the bar in the evening - the landlady even bought me a drink!Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Tintern is a lovely little place, very relaxing and peaceful. It is great for people who like to walk and you can either walk flat along the river Wye or go up into the hills and woods. There were a lot of cyclists about so clearly good for cycling. Tintern Abbey is lovely and worth a look around. The Devil's Pulpit is a steady uphill climb but well worth it on a nice day. It is a very small place and therefore, not much to do if you are staying for a few days, so you may want to travel to other places (the buses seemed very regular) but it is a nice place for a base.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This is a lovely village near Gloucester and Ross on Wye.
This is a lovely village near Gloucester and Ross on Wye. The yew tree is well placed in the centre of the Wye valley. Inner circle gallery has some of the best art outside of London and is well worth visiting. This is a perfect holiday destination. The rooms are in a courtyard and are bright, fresh and well sized. Sunlight pours through the windows and it's quiet. The courtyard is lovely if you want to sit outside and have a coffee, and chat with friends. WiFi reception is good. And although it is a main road, you don't hear the traffic. Big car park, bus stop is around the corner. And the village shop sells anything and everything!! Longhope is on the A40.Guest review byNon - 4.0
