FAQs about hotels on Andros
A Perfect Combination of Culture and Fun
A favoured weekend destination, the island of Andros is only an hour and a half away from Athens. Named after Andros, a hero descending from the line of God Apollo, this beautiful island features traditional villages, golden beaches, high mountains, small rivers and green valleys.
Featuring great nautical tradition and home to famous Greek sailors, Andros is not similar with any other island in the Cyclades. This small paradise is a great cultural destination thanks to its many museums and their unique collections of paintings, sculptures and archaeological exhibits.
The lovely Chora is the capital of Andros and one of the most popular villages of the island. Wander around the narrow alleys, admire the Neoclassical and Venetian-style houses, and admire the beautiful stone bridge.
Rich in history, the island has several towers including the tower of Ayios Petros and Fryktoria. Built by Venetians, the Pano Kastro was the largest city in Andros during the Middle Ages.
Built over a gorgeous natural harbour, the resort of Batsi has a sandy beach, shallow waters and nice taverns serving local specialties. Booking.com has a great selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses in the magnificent Batsi.

- From US$81 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 120 reviewsI had such a wonderful stay at Spanos Apartments! Sophia was so kind and always available to answer questions. She even picked me up the first night off the ferry. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. Very clean kitchen and spotless bathroom. It is located a bit out of town, so having a car would be an asset. Extremely quiet, and about 800 meters to the beach and main road. There is also a pizza place and coffee shop located there. Overall, I would definitely book again!Guest review byMaureenCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 195 reviewsNicholas is a great host, full of information and suggestions, happy to get you a deal on taxi or car hire. Rooms and common areas are immaculately clean and serviced daily. Powerful enclosed shower, and balconies with views over the bay. Aircon if needed. A small store beneath the apartments, run by the Boss, his mother, caters for most immediate needs. Close to all amenities.Guest review byMagberg (Irl)Ireland

Batsi is a charming seaside village with lovely views of harbour. I would recommend 2 nights as there is not much to do unless you are happy to spend the whole day on beach and eating at restaurants. October is end of season so most of shops and restaurants are closed on the island. We took a bus to Cora on the first day which was very scenic and the town (capital) is worth a visit.Guest review byCraig GirdlestoneSouth Africa - 6.0
We were there in May so not quite season.
We were there in May so not quite season. It’s very small but served as a good base to visit the island. Some good tavernas. Bit nothing else to do there. Not a beach nearby that is nice for swimming or tanning so would probably recommend Batsi over Gavrio.Guest review byChristineNamibia - 10

This is an ideal place if you don't like to be in the capital city with a lot of noise and traffic. You are far enough from the street and have your own peace and quiet, and at the same time you are very close to the city where there is entertainment and an active nightlife. Everything you need is in the area, restaurants, shops, beaches etcGuest review byMiroslav PetrovicSerbia - 10

This is an amazing natural beach, some parts are sandy and others with small white pebbles. Not a lot of people around on the time of my visit (June). The surrounding landscape is beautiful. There is a small tavern above the beach.Guest review byMichael PapaioannouGreece - 10
Amazing stay, wonderful host! Value for money!
Amazing stay, wonderful host! Value for money! The view of the sea was absolutely breathtaking, and I loved relaxing by the swimming pool every afternoon. Areti, the hostess, made the whole experience unforgettable ! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Andros!Guest review byLeda - 4.0
Not a hospitable island!
Not a hospitable island! Third class and expensive facilities. Most of the locals are rude and it seems that they do not like visitors! If you want to visit Greece there are at least 100 beautiful islands and places to visit . This was the worst experience that I had in Greece and I feel ashamed that these guys claim to be Greeks Greeks are very friendly people ! Most of the islands even if they are small offer very good facilities! Do not waste your money and time in Andros . Concluding I would like to mention that I was very Impressed by the “Skalakia “ restaurant in chora! Excellent food and service. Mrs Maria was extremely friendly and professional. Make sure you reserve a table ahead of time.Guest review byHelenUnited States - 8.0
We lived near Batsi for 31 years.
We lived near Batsi for 31 years. It is a lovely little village with some very good tavernas and cafes, although there are now far too many cocktail bars. Andros island is lovely with excellent beaches and hiking trails but avoid August when the island almost sinks under the weight of thousands of visitors, mainly from Athens. Generally speaking, the island has managed to remain unspoilt by excessive tourism. The local people are very friendly and welcoming.Guest review byGrahamGreece - 8.0

This destination is delightful, offering a wide array of culinary options. The local cheeses are exceptional, and you'll discover restaurants that cater to both casual diners and those seeking a more upscale experience. The ambiance is tranquil, making it an ideal retreat. Renting a car is advisable to fully explore the island’s beauty. While September may be slightly cooler, it also offers a more serene atmosphere.Guest review byMelissaIreland - 10

Agios Pertos is perfectly situated close to the main port but also in a quiet location. The local beach is lovely, sandy with clear waters. There is a local bakery but no mini-market. There are 3 local restaurants, a pizza place (run by a Canadian Greek) that makes amazing greek salads, a tasty souvlaki place and Giannoulis, the best fish taverna that we visited (of course it also serves meat and vegetarian dishes).Guest review byellieUnited Kingdom
