We were a bit skeptical at first to book (fatigue from the hotel options room-scrolling probably) but we’re pleasantly surprised and pleased with Le Pirate. The facilities were spacious, well maintained and clean. Food was really good (Tuna Urap slapped!) The vibe was relaxed and the bonfire/movie nights were cute. We walked around the island often and were happy we chose this place.

The property is well manicured and taken care of, there is an absolutely lovely pool area with plenty of comfortable spots to relax and read. But the best part is the amazing and friendly staff- they really went out of their way to learn our names, help us organize a snorkeling excursion and buy tickets for the boat, etc., and in general made sure we had an amazing and unforgettable stay.

Sure, there are better hotels in the world, but it is without a doubt the best price / quality ratio that I have yet experienced. - excellent kitchen serving top quality all day dishes - tasty a la carte breakfast (fresh juice, barista coffee and a choice of "main") - reality as good as the images - more than enough sun loungers, cabanas, bean bags etc to serve all - much appreciated ceiling fans all over. An absolutely wonderful hotel to stay at! The staff is 10/10 , friendly, open, attentive and service-oriented. Genuinely warmhearted guys! The breakfast was the best and most beautiful we had in Bali&Lombok! The garden area is well maintained. The rooms are clean and comfy. We left another hotel on Gili Air in the middle of the night and were welcomed at Divino Hotel during the night. The staff is more than just friendly – they felt like family. My child was greeted and entertained every day; they truly adored her. The owner, as well as everyone else, was incredibly kind and welcoming. Breakfast could be chosen the day before, and everything was freshly prepared just for you. That was something very special for us – they planned and prepared everything down to the time, and always with a smile. Everything tasted delicious. The room was very clean, and we had everything we needed – completely different from the place before. Housekeeping was always top-notch. I would happily book this hotel again and again. It’s a peaceful place where you can truly relax. It’s never overcrowded, not even at the pool. We had a lovely pool and were always there alone. We absolutely loved our stay – thank you so much for everything, and for the beautiful time we had.

Best stay we had in Indonesia! We stayed in a Bungalow and it was amazing. The bed was comfortable and the little outdoor area with the lounge was great too. The two pools were amazing and the employees of Villa Tahid were super friendly. We did Laundry through the hotel and it went perfectly, so did our trip that we booked with them back to Kuta. We would definitely come back here again.

Indonesia's Laid-back Lombok

A great alternative to busy Bali is lazy Lombok, a more authentic representation for tourists who wish to explore one of Indonesia’s more than 17,000 islands. It is separated from its naughty neighbor by the Lombok Strait to the east and from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait to the west.

Lombok is a typical island paradise of paddy fields, pristine beaches, jungle escapes and mountain retreats. It is largely inhabited by the local Sasak people with a small percentage of Balinese settlers.

Many hotels on Booking.com are centred around the capital of Mataram and the beaches stretching along the north-eastern coastline, including the sweeping bays of Senggigi. Medana Bay is another great northern location for people wanting to visit the nearby Gili Islands, a wonderful snorkeling location and nightlife choice.

Escape the tropical heat in the mountains surrounding Gunung Rinjani, an active volcano where tourists can break in their newly acquired trekking shoes. Other adventures abound on the southern surf beaches of Lombok.

Lombok International Airport is located 33 km south-west from Mataram and services daily flights mainly from Jakarta and Bali. This round-shaped island is approximately 80 km in both directions and offers plenty of variety for a great holiday.

    We had a lovely stay at The Katamaran resort. The staff was a class of their own so fantastic made us feel so welcome and very curious with big smiles. Very clean and spacious rooms with all you need for a stay i.e schampoo , conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste etc. The breakfast was very good and good choices. There is 3 different pools to choose from so you will never feel like it’s crowded and it’s beachfront with gorgeous sunsets.

    The hotel is not far from the harbour and all bars and restorants but far enough to be quite and peacfull. The pool and garden with poolbar is perfect, the room we stay was up on the floor with look on the pool and was really nice, large with everything you need. The stuff so kind, breakfast good and I like architecture of hotel, all in bambo.

    Staying in Gili T for 2 days was the best decision of our Bali trip! The whole vibe of the island is so cozy and calm. There are no cars, you can bicycle around the island or get a scooter. The beaches are beautiful and sunsets on the west side are breathtaking. You can order a drink and relax on beanbags on the beach while watching the most breathtaking sunsets!

    I loved how condensed the town was, everything was a short distance from each other. There were lots of nice cafes for breakfast as well as restaurants for lunch and dinner. We spent some days in Ekas which is very close to reach by boat, which gave us a nice balance between busy and calm.

    Stayed at tne katamaran hotel, stunning hotel with great food and provided a restful quiet break in stunning surroundings. Both restaurants on site provided great food. The spa was also gorgeous. The entire stay was heavenly! Alu at tne senggigi ferry port organised an amazing day snorkelling at three of the Gili islands. Paradise!

    We had a fantastic stay at Gili Meno Mojo Beach Resort.

    We had a fantastic stay at Gili Meno Mojo Beach Resort. Our room (Deluxe Beach Front) was well equipped with tea/coffee making facility, drinking water and very efficient air con and a TV. The bed was super comfy and we both had the best nights sleep we’ve had in ages. We could step out of our room onto the beach and the snorkelling (straight off the beach) was amazing, with the greatest diversity of fish species that we’ve ever seen. We could sit in the restaurant area watching turtles poke their heads up through the water whilst enjoying the complimentary afternoon tea. Chriest was so helpful, making sure everything was OK, giving us lots of information about Indonesian life and sorting out our onward travel. Jo and Linjang were also super friendly with always time for a chat. The chef cooked delicious meals……I particularly enjoyed the grilled mahi mahi fish and my husband loved the red fish curry and the breakfasts were lovely but there were other restaurants close by if you chose to eat somewhere else. Altogether a fabulous stay. Thank you Meno Mojo.

    The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so...

    The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so welcoming and friendly. They will do almost anything to cater for travellers, for example I am 68 and wouldn’t have been able to do the 6 km walking tour up and down hills and uneven surfaces so they organised a motorbike tour which was great. The tour of the villages was also good and very interesting and informative to see the local market, pottery being made, textile weaving and bamboo weaving. There was a good variety of food and the family dinner was wonderful, so much delicious local food. The accommodation was suitable in a peaceful environment. I really enjoyed my stay.

Main beach Munah is buzzing with people holidaying and learning to surf With Warungs along the beach you can grab a board or a cold Bintang and enjoy the water Homestays are the way to go but there are also Also beachfront restaurants and resort style places. Beautiful surrounding areas and still quite enough to enjoy local farming I hope it stays this way and foreign resorts do not take over.

    Was exhausted after Mt.

    Was exhausted after Mt. Rinjani climb and this impacted on my exploration of the wider area, which I would've liked to have done more of. Also despite being officially the 'dry season', the weather was often overcast and rainy. I think had things been slightly different and I had had more time, the experience would have been better.. But still a lovely place that has less tourists than other parts of Indonesia.

    Strawberry picked was fun.

    Strawberry picked was fun. Look at google maps to find places with at least 5 good reviews to find somewhere to go. Hiking Pergasagan Hill and spending the night was amazing! Only thing to note though is that there are a lot of mosques here and they are VERY loud. We didn't get much sleep during our stay.

    Gili T is amazing, they call it the party island but as a coupole in our 50's we didn't find it too noisy or hectic - it had a great international feel to it & very chilled hanging on the beach during the days.
