- From US$197.24 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 235 reviewsMyself and my three sisters stayed in the family room during our annual visit to Ireland and what a beautiful place. The room was big and we had plenty of space for our suitcases. Mary was an amazing host and even gave us the recipe for her homemade bread! Great home cooked breakfast with plenty of choices. We would definitely recommend a stay at Carrowntober House, you won't be disappointed!Guest review byGraceUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 381 reviewswe really enjoyed the location itself, closed to facilities and walks in the wood. The house is lovely and very clean, Martha is very kind and prepared us yummy breakfasts! She took the time to explain us what to visit around that our kids would love to explore. Thank you again, it was a pleasure to stay there !Guest review byAmandineFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 13 reviewsThis was one of the best, if not the best hotel experience of the last 5-10 years. Large and extremely cozy rooms, very attentive room service, fantastic breakfast and dinner, great location, and above all the friendliness and warmth of the host Henry. It couldn’t have been better, except the weather maybe.Guest review byAndreasSpain

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0
Great little town, friendly and welcoming.
Great little town, friendly and welcoming. Lots of history, beautiful park and marked walk around the town. Free parking with plenty of space. Grocery store, butchers coffee shops, gas station, selection of great pubs and souvenir shops amongst others in the high street. Super little place.Guest review byLorraineCanada - 8.0
Initially looking for a place near Galway.
Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.Guest review byTiger 32Australia - 8.0

It was a fabulous location if you like to be in the countryside but with a car no roblem travelling to different locations within 30 minutes and a fabulous Chinese in headford I think it’s called jade garden the red one on the left anywayGuest review byTracyIreland - 10.0
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks.
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.Guest review byCollette - 10.0

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0

Hasn’t changed since childhood holidays 48 years ago! People still very friendly and welcoming. Love the quick wit and sense of humour. Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Easy access from village to multiple sports and beautiful views.Guest review byAnderleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friendsGuest review byursulaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
