I loved my stay at The Ashok! The hotel has a grand charm with spacious rooms, beautiful gardens, and a variety of restaurants serving delicious food. The staff were warm and attentive, making the experience truly comfortable. While the property is a little old in parts, everything was clean and well-maintained. A wonderful place to stay in New Delhi, perfect for both business and leisure.

The constant barage of taxi drivers at the airport would not...

The constant barage of taxi drivers at the airport would not take no for an answer. I used Uber to and from the hotel but they dropped me at the wrong terminal. I used City Cabs to take me to the correct terminal. He drove like a maniac; insisted I paid cash. When I said I only had card he took me into the back streets to find an ATM, despite me saying I would rather find one at the airport. He refused to leave the ATM until I got out 23,000 ruppees. I told him thats how much I got out but only got 10,000, still more than I should have been charged. He wanted the money before we drove away but I insisted on waiting until we reached the airport. Once there, I gave him 10,000 and told him that if he wanted more, I would call a policeman over to sort it out. He left.

I would avoid the Salt and Rove Hotel (aka Hotel Elevate by Corporate Suite) - there are hundreds of alternative clean, presentable and welcoming hotels in Delhi! I will be coming back to Delhi to spend more time exploring; my most favorite place this time was the Lotus Temple. Absolutely amazing!! !50% recommend a visit - especially if you are of a spiritual, meditative nature. Beautiful!! Very easy to get around Delhi - just grab a taxi (but ask the cost first before you depart on your journey). I loved Delhi and will be going back!

We loved New Delhi, despite the notorious pollution.

We loved New Delhi, despite the notorious pollution. The historic buildings (mosque, Red Fort, temples, tombs) were fascinating and we didn't have time to visit the museums, which would have been a great addition to our stay. The markets were an experience, but best avoided on a Sunday afternoon as everyone is preparing for a festival: I have never experienced pressing crowds like it! But it certainly gave an authentic feel to our visit and we enjoyed the sights and the bargains.
