I booked it because it was close to my place of interest, because it had good reviews and because the pictures looked pretty. Little did I know how much I underestimated this resort! The combination of tranquility, breathtaking views from your "room", the omnipresent luxury, selection of superb activities, the cuisine, the actual living forest all around you and overall hospitality and service simply cannot be described by words. One must experience it first-hand to fully appreciate this gem of a property. This property is situated literally inside a functioning coffee plantation, where you can explore the coffee making process from blossom to brewing (and roast / grind coffee beans yourself!). That is only one of the few exceptional activities offered, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The plantation is huge, and so is the resort itself. So of course they drive you with a buggy, whenever you are not in a mood for a little walk. Your "room" is actually a cottage, suspended above tree foliage, with a sense of complete privacy, even though a next cottage is nearby. The view has depth which can only be experienced by the seashore, or at high altitude. The connection to nature is taken very seriously here, and can also be felt intensely everywhere - whether you are relaxing on the terrace of your cottage, or walking to the pool and spa, or just having dinner. Talking about dining. The selection and variety of meals is astonishing, and so is the flavor. The whole dining experience is wonderful - the taste, the drinks & cocktails, the fact that you are actually dining above the waterfall, prompt and kind service offered by every staff member (waiters and managers alike). I would especially like to spotlight Mr.Bishu, who was serving us for the duration of our stay. He was always professional, very kind, attentive to all our needs, and so polite. We visited Mysore to see the light and sound show but missed it due to a festival. We saw the palace lit up instead and it was beautiful. Mysore was lit up with over 100 km of street lights which was stunning to see but due to the festival, crowds at the palace, were very large. It is all about the hills you climb through Car, Bikes and JEEPS. there are few waterfalls that makes you amaze your day especially kemmenagundi falls were really good. you can spend two days without boring in chikmangalur. Superb place showing the Golden era of Vijayanagar empire. So many things to see. We stayed for 2 full days and explored a lot. Could have been 2 days more. August is a right month. Not much rain and greenery all around. Temps in the range of 25 to 30 degree celcius. Advisable to engage a guide atleast for one full day for better exploration. Other days can be easily done on your own with the help of map. One can walk around or can take vehicle to main spots. Worst staff. Rude. There was no person manning the reception. After waitig for 15 minutes when we rang up we were told to wait for some more time as the person has gone for lunch. Believe it was 4.20 P.M. We were also told to look for alternative acvomodation if cant wait.in a rude tone. We did go to a decent hotel at a much cheaper rate and in a decent locality in the heart of Mangalore. Never agai offer me this hotel in future .
