FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- From US$316.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 445 reviewsWow! Words can’t describe how truly special La Locanda Del Fiordo is. You are in a fantastic location with the bus stop right outside if you’d like to do a day trip to Positano or Amalfi. The property is also far enough from the hustle and bustle of the main towns to feel like you can properly relax. Luigi and team really go above and beyond to make sure you have the best holiday ever. We also loved the restaurant and ate at the restaurant most nights! Some of the best meals we had at the Amalfi coast were at the hotel. The hotel has the most amazing facilities (including amazing access directly into the sea and a pool!) and you could happily spend the entire time at the hotel and have the best experience. After our holiday, we would only ever stay at La Locanda Del Fiordo when travelling to the Amalfi coast, cannot recommend it enough!Guest review bySophieAustralia
- From US$184.81 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 1,279 reviewsEverything was above our expectations. We were quite reserved to book the hotel since it was rated 7.7, yet we still booked it since it was October and options limited. Yet, it deserves a perfect 10. The hotel, the view, the breakfast, the restaurant were exceptional. Absolutely exceptional. They had free parking in an area that is complicated to find parking places. The view from the our hotel room was stunning (we had a room with a view both to the sea, and to the city of Salerno, as well as to the port). The private beach was very clean. The breakfast was diverse and had mindblowing desserts. All the dishes we had at the restaurant were stellar (2 consecutive dinners). We tried, twice as well, the Michelin restaurant - Re Mauri - and we had the best food in a long while.Guest review byXENIARomania
- From US$104.49 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 296 reviewsWe had a great stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect — central and convenient for everything we needed. The apartment was super clean and well-maintained, and the check-in and check-out process was very easy. The service overall was excellent — the staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help. There were just a couple of minor issues. The Wi-Fi in our apartment didn’t work properly, but when we reported it, the staff immediately offered us a room change. That kind of responsive service really made a positive impression. Also, the water in the shower drained very slowly, which was a bit uncomfortable. Aside from these small issues, everything else was perfect, and we would definitely stay here again!Guest review byLaliGeorgia
- From US$250.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 548 reviewsThis is a wonderful hotel at a great location but the beach really is indescribable - it is so wonderful to have a private beach (and free parking!) at the hotel that can be accessed via elevator, while the cliffs and stairs obviously make the charm of the Amalfi coast, travelling it 35* degree heat or with 60-70 year old family members, it was truly wonderful to have this easy - it really felt like a holiday. The main waitor is also super friendly and the reception staff organized a private hairdresser for my dad to get a haircut in our room!Guest review byElisabeth F.Austria

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The view from our room was simply breathtaking — it honestly felt unreal. The hotel’s décor is charming and beautifully thought out, adding to the whole experience. We had an amazing stay! The staff went above and beyond to help us with our suitcases and anything we needed, always with a smile. There are also great spots nearby to eat and have a drink, making the location even more special.Guest review byÉricaBrazil

Beautiful place.
Beautiful place. Goes without saying it's a lot of stair climbing. Consider this if you have any mobility issues. Very touristy and busy the end of September when we met. At times it was hard to navigate the sidewalks and pathways.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 10.0
Maiori is an interesting town on the Amalfi Coast.
Maiori is an interesting town on the Amalfi Coast. The beach is big and much more accessible that other towns. The local bus service (Sita) is good except that the buses fill up and you can be left waiting for the next one and hopefully get on it. The Amalfi Coast road is amazing, winding, narrow and so busy with traffic nonstop passing with inches to spare - sometimes buses and cars have to back up to pass on some parts. The Italian bus drivers are extremely skilled - some are nice, but some are extremely mean (and I think hate Tourists)Guest review byMiddletonAustralia - 10.0

Lots of ceramic shops selling almost the same items. many good restaurants within walking distance. Arrive by train then take the accensore (elevator) down to the town - the lift-well is lined with blue tiles and fish. Gorgeous. The ferry stops down at the bay and bus 68 takes you up to the town for 1.4euro. Buy the ticket from the ladies in the ceramic shop near the bus stop before you board and validate on the bus.Guest review byPamelaAustralia - 8.0

Furore is around 15km from amalfi, sounds close but in reality due to the winding roads it takes around 25 minutes in a car/bus Furore is quite spread out so you need to take that in to account when staying there. Car/moped is the best method of transport followed by the bus, walking is an option but be prepared for many steep hills. This is a perfect base to get into amalfi, but be aware that parking in amalfi itself is challenging and the police/car towing companies are red hot!Guest review byMARKUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation. There are plenty of good restaurants and enough markets for everyday needs. The area also offers great historical sites to explore, along with the beautiful Valle delle Ferriere nature park nearby. A convenient bus stop with frequent service makes it easy to get around the area without a car.Guest review byNemanjaSerbia
