Great, elevated spot to enjoy La Spezia without the industry on your doorstep, but with the view from afar. Very comfortable accommodation and lovely, friendly staff. Special mentions for Suzanna on the breakfast in the morning and Valentino at dinner in the evening. Beautiful location, best with a car, and a lovely hotel to return to after a busy day walking around the Cinque Terre.

FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre

Cliff-Hugging Beauty

One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.

Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.

The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.

Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.

The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

This wonderful, cozy hotel completely won me over from the very first moment! We had a room with a breathtaking sea view — pure magic. You fall asleep and wake up to the gentle whisper of the waves, and in the evening, you enjoy a mesmerizing sunset with a glass of the local wine — which is incredibly delicious! On your own balcony, in this little personal paradise, you need nothing else to feel complete happiness. The hotel is located on a quiet pedestrian street, where after 11 PM a peaceful silence settles — no car noise, just calm and relaxation. Parking is just a minute’s walk away, very convenient! It’s right on the first line — just a few steps and you’re already on the beach. A huge plus is that the hotel has its own private beach (35 euros for two loungers and an umbrella for the whole day), where no other tourists are allowed, so there’s always plenty of space — especially important during the busy season when public beaches are packed. I loved absolutely everything! The great location, friendly and attentive staff, the room without unnecessary frills but with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was a delight: fresh eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, fragrant croissants, and what stood out was the incredibly tasty potato pie! Monterosso al Mare is an intimate, charming place where you can truly unwind and recharge. I highly recommend staying here for 3 to 4 days to fully experience its atmosphere and tranquility. A huge thank you to the hotel for an unforgettable stay! We will definitely come back here at the first opportunity!

We had the 2 person room, large enough for a table and chairs as well as a 2 person sofa. Fridge, wardrobe, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. (Supply your own milk) Shower room with a decent sized cubicle. Toiletries supplied and a hairdryer. Decent WiFi signal. Comfortable double bed on a mezzanine platform, accessed by a narrow but perfectly safe staircase. Small courtyard where you could sit outside and breakfast was served here. Breakfast was very good, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and cereal. Selection of meat and cheese. Bread, croissant and focaccia and scrambled eggs. Fruit juice and tea or coffee. All bought to your own table. Room made up each day. Quiet location up a side street. 10 to 15 minutes walk from the station. Not too steep location. In the centre of Monterosso.

I loved the place; it actually exceeded my expectations. It's a heavenly location with fantastic views and nature in a very calm setting. The staff was super attentive and helpful, and the facilities were impeccably clean. The breakfast was really nice—fresh and yummy, though the same every day. The beach is just 2-3 minutes away from the hotel, adding to the convenience. Additionally, it's easily reachable by foot from the train station, taking around 7 minutes max. An awesome base for exploring Cinque Terre! Will definitely come back, if there again.

The location was beautiful and the breakfast included the best coffee on our holiday, made by a wonderful barista! It was lovely to sit under the shade of trees and be served delicious croissants, fruit juice and fresh fruit. A nice surprise was the blues music playing in the bar/café, the helpful and friendly owners being huge fans! Also we were very happy to find the fish restaurant in the basement served fabulous food and the service was very friendly and efficient. It’s a place we would love to revisit!

Luxury lodges with stunning view of the coast. Great location to explore Cinque Terre area by train (with free shuttle bus to the nearby train station - 5-10mins away). Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Better to go there in the hotter months because it could be cold during the night in the 'tents'.

By far the best of all 5 towns.

By far the best of all 5 towns. We stayed in the old part of Monterosso and it felt authentic. Much less crowded than the other towns. And much easier to navigate given that it's not all hills. Just a short stroll to the newer side of Monterosso and w plenty of eating spots to choose from.

Great village to be based if you want to explore Cinque Terre. The train station is only a short walk from everywhere and there are various food options for breakfasts and dinners. The village itself is very cute and we could see everything in half a day.

Portovenere is a perfect place to stay, if looking for a quieter place but similar scenery to Cinque Terre. Lots of things to do from hiking, boat trips to other resorts and well connected to La Spezia by local bus.

Lovely beach, great cafes & restaurants, people are lovely. Easily accessible by train and great base to explore Cinque Terre. Kids loved the beach & loved exploring the side streets & Geleterias for ice cream

Picturesque, relatively small and quiet compared to the other cinque Terre towns. Centrally located so I could begin day walks in both directions. Best not to carry heavy luggage up the hill from the train station (around 380 steps) - use the bus… only 1,50 Euros but expect to wait 15-30 mins at peak time. The walks to Vernazza and on to Monterosso, and also the walk to Manarola are magnificent, just be prepared for lots of steps.

It was so special to be so close to Cinque Terre region by train and then to come back to the quiet comfort of Hotel Belvedere in the afternoon. There are great opportunities to hire a bike for a few hours and ride to the neighbouring towns of Fremura and Levanto- with all straight road access- no hills involved! The only downfall is the walk up and down the hill for the hotel and town commute- it can become quite tiresome after a long day of sightseeing - but overall a wonderful unforgettable stay
