FAQs about hotels in Lombardy
Sophisticated and Serene
The diverse region of Lombardy touches the 3 largest Italian lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. Their beautiful shores house many Lombardy luxury hotels and even more luxurious celebrity residences.
The rich and famous also flock to Milan, one of the world’s fashion capitals, where designer boutiques are found alongside La Scala opera house and the iconic San Siro football stadium. To the south, Pavia is best known for its elaborate monastery, while Monza to the north-east hosts the F1 Italian Grand Prix and World Superbike Championship.
Nearby Bergamo is the hub for cheap flights to Milan and it also has a historic old town, while to its east is peaceful Lake Iseo. A smaller lake is located by Varese, and artificial lakes also almost entirely surround the important medieval city of Mantua, seat of the Gonzaga court during the Renaissance.
Brescia to the north-west has monuments dating back to Roman times, while Cremona to the south-west has an impressive cross-shaped cathedral and huge belltower. This beautiful city is on the Po, Italy’s longest river which forms part of the Lombardy border.

I enjoyed my two-day visit to Milan--a real city populated mostly by actual Italians rather than tourists--more than stays in Venice and Florence. The Villa Necchi Campiglio, Triennale di Milano, Biblioteca Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and the Cimiterio Monumentale as well as more visited sights like the Cenacolo Vinciano Museum, the Duomo, Vittorio Emmanuelle II Galleria and the Museo Teatrale Alla Scala far exceeded my expectations. The metro system could not be more easily navigated with contactless payment and there were multiple restaurant options including Maio's on the terrace of the Rinascente department store across from the Duomo and Osteria Rustica Cavallini which makes a VERY big deal out of what would be just another hot fudge sundae in America.Guest review byJeffrey - 10.0

The feeling you stay in an old and new place ,like a history travel.Very clean and friendly city.Pet friendly. Beatiful small taverns ,cafe with tables outside. Lot of shops. And if you have some hours to spent before your flight back, you can go to Orio center Mall , a super Mall with anything you like inside, only 5 minutes from the Airport Arrivals. We left our baggages in a locker place near KFC and in the path to the Mall so we can spent there more than 5 hours!Guest review byΡΙΖΟΣ - 8.0
Como boasts of an interesting city centre which can be...
Como boasts of an interesting city centre which can be explored in about 2 days , together with a beautiful lakeside promenade ideal for a walk, a couple of parks and a few stunning villas by the lake. It is also a good base from which one can explore the picturesque towns and villages on the lake. However being at the southern tip of the lake, travelling to the northern part of the lake or the Lecco branch of the lake takes quite a long time. Plenty of restaurants which can be a bit pricey, but the food is delicious. On the negative side, even at the end of the tourist season queues for the ferries and the Brunate funicular can be quite long at certain times of the dayGuest review byErnestMalta - 10.0
Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda.
Sirmione was a real find for Lake Garda. It has the amazing old town with its cobbled streets and history, but also has the newer town which has loads of restaurants and shops, as well as the marina. It is really easy to get to other parts of the lake from Sirmione, either by car or by boat, so it was a great base. It was also easy to get to other parts of Italy from there, so a great location.Guest review byCarolUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Really easy to get to from Verona airport.
Really easy to get to from Verona airport. Beautiful views of the Lake and quick to get to Sirmione which is stunning but can get really busy with tourists. Desenzano town is lovely, lots of eateries, pretty streets, friendly people and beautiful views. The market on a Tuesday was really good, nice to walk around. Many things eg the castle etc are closed on a Monday. I was there 2.5 days which felt enough for me. This included a day in Sirmione. I explored the main sites and then spent a day in Verona on the way home, well worth a day trip or visit.Guest review byAnnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having spent 311 nights in Limone you must understand that we like it and the surrounding north Lake Garda area. Last year it was selected as the most superb flower decorated town in Italy and at the international competition won the top five 'petals' in it's category of small resorts. The winter population is 1200 people but usually busy with visitors from the end of April till mid October. The only criticism this year is that I detected a cigarette end on some steps! Standards are slipping but the Mayor, Il Sindaco, was quite distressed. If in doubt just go and you will not be disappointed.Guest review byDuncanUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Hotel easy to find although there was some confusion at the airport as to where the free airport shuttle bus left from but perhaps the driver was just having an off day. The room was well equipped and spacious but we had no hot water in the morning. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Staff were very helpful and friendlyGuest review byMargaretUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bellagio is just so nice. The jewel in the crown.
Bellagio is just so nice. The jewel in the crown. Busy during the day but better in the evening. Saying that, you can still get around. It’s charming, clean and plenty of shops restaurants. Great location to hop on the ferry to explore. Definitely the best place in our opinion but the area is stunning anyway. Ciao ciao.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Great place in the mountains with Italian flair.
Great place in the mountains with Italian flair. The hiking trails are marvellous, the paths through the vineyards are superb, lots of Castagne and going there by Rhätische Bahn is a pure highlight. Hidden beauties, old places, rich in history.Guest review byreise_kunstAustria
