Lovely Italian city.
Lovely Italian city. Amazing local food and wine and lots of museums to explore. I would recommend the cinema Musuem and the Egyptian Musuem. Also very easy to travel around using buses, metro or trains. We didn't need catch a single taxi.Guest review byAnitaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Easy to underestimate Isola Bella when you get off the ferry and are assaulted by retail stands. But get past this as quickly as possible to visit the villa and especially the gardens. The restaurant Centrale (Food Family Love) in Stresa is quite nice. We ate there twice. The pumpkin soup is delicious. Do not go to the Cafe Bolongaro across from the navigation offices. High pressure to buy and the pastries were dry and flavorless, as were the beverages. Should have left immediately when they started putting things on plates when we walked in.Guest review byLindaUnited States - 10
Alba has everything you need.
Alba has everything you need. Shops, restaurants and all amenities. There is free parking in the large carpark near the station. The older part of town is very pretty and full of wine and truffle shops. We did a wine tasting at the historic Pio Cesare which you need to organise in advance.Guest review byElizabethUnited Kingdom - 10
Verbania is a really good base for a stay on Lake Maggiore.
Verbania is a really good base for a stay on Lake Maggiore. It has 2 parts - Intra where the main ports are, and Pallanza. There are lots of boats leaving and arriving every day at Intra, both passenger-only and ferries with cars, so very useful for exploring other parts of the lake. Intra has a nice sea front and an old town with little courtyards and cafes dotted all over it. The highlight of Pallanza is Villa Taranto, the botanic gardens. Well worth a visit.Guest review byLenoraUnited Kingdom - 10

We arrived by train at a beautiful but mostly abandoned train station (unfortunate because it is a beauty!!) Town is on a surfboard-shaped plateau with beautiful bridges that access it by car or train. I did a walk around the whole plateau and was awe-struck by the beautiful old buildings and surrounding valleys. Plenty of coffee shops and cafes/restaurants if you don't want to eat at your hotel. So glad to have made the overnight stop here on our way from Turin to Menton by train.Guest review byLelandCanada - 10

I have been going to Cannobio for nearly thirty years it is a little gem on Lago Maggiore and is the essence if an Italian town. There are not many English or UK tourists, which makes it good to practise Italian. It sits on the lake with an amazing Sunday market and emits a feeling of comfort and home for me I should say its horrible to keep it a little secret but it is a great place to visit with amazing restaurants and good quality food with prices for all budgets and campsites tooGuest review byLouiseUnited Kingdom - 8.0
