- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 439 reviewsWe stayed for 5 nights at the apartments that are across the street from the hotel and it was excellent! Small quiet oasis with about 6 apartments and private pool. Very spacious, super clean, big kitchen and bathroom, cleaning lady was servicing daily. We only walked to the main hotel for breakfast in the morning and quick swim at their pristine clean pool. We spent all day everyday at Posseidon Baths which the apartments are actually very ideal walking distance location since you don't have to cross the super busy road which hotel is at. From apartments you go simply down the hill on paved sidewalk to Citara bay , beaches and Posseidon, about 10-15 min walk. Beautiful view of Citara bay just outside of the apartments. If you walk little bit downhill from the apartments there is a cute caravan bar with the best sunset views and they make little sushi bites and delicious sptitz. We loved the apartments and it was a great place for our family with 2 kids and grandparents. Bus is very close and Forio is about 10 min by bus. I think it's nice to go there for dinner one night. Hotel also offers shuttle to Forio and beach zone at Citara bay / Posseidon. Not to forget the stunning views of Mt Epompeo from the apartments and sweet black cat friend that comes visit. We would come back!!Guest review byAndrejkaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 96 reviewsSalt pool was amazing to lounge around Hotel was walking distance to great places like Mezzatore for dinner Breakfast was the best experience I've ever had at any hotel in Italy or Europe TBH Hotel had a wide range of pool options and was a beautiful sea scenic view Huge property so it felt like you were in a private estate with very little people to bother you Picked up from the port in a Tesla - 1 of the only 2 on the island Evening staff were by far the most helpful in giving us strong local options to truly experience our time. Places to check out Ristorante Il Delfino / Umberto a Mare / MezzatorreGuest review byMarkCanada
- From $58.02 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.8Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 193 reviewsThe hotel was more a senior home for retired. It has 4 stars but doesn't meet criteria of even 2 stars. Very poorly equipped with old and warned out furniture and bed covers. Walls were wet and dirty, room was freezing cold and stinking like old people. Food was horrible with even worse service and terrible noise in the canteen. Hotel has one indoor jacuzzi where the water was luke warm and had so much chlorine, that it was burning our skin and noses. It was the worst hotel experience I ever had.Guest review byZuzSlovakia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very Good - What previous guests thought, 851 reviewsGreat location - walking distance of the port, bus station, restaurants, supermarket and shops - the area was quiet and I felt safe. Breakfast was very good with different cakes each day. Lunches and dinners can also be booked at the hotel restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and can arrange tours. The room was very clean and spacious. Unfortunately I did not have time to make use of the extensive spa facilities that are available.Guest review byBonnie YaelIsrael
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 77 reviewsI have never felt so welcome at a hotel! The hosts, shuttle drivers, and other staff were all so wonderful. They gave us such good advice about where to go and helped us so much with making reservations for dinners/taxis. The property itself is so beautiful and the garden/pool is so relaxing. I wish we could’ve stayed much, much longer!Guest review byFinnyUnited States
- From $125.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 429 reviewsThe room was really cool, the lighting was spectacular and the views were breathtaking. Also the staff was very pleasant. The front office Poloa was so incredibly nice and helped me with arranging dinner/lunch and also getting a taxis to and from the archeology park. My trip was so much better because of her help.Guest review byJohnstonUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 1,745 reviewsPrimarily I had a 2nd floor room with a balcony with an unobstructed view of Castelo Aragonese. The staff were friendly. Cold Peronis were at hand. Only a 10 to 15 leisurely walk to the harbor. I made it to an evening Mass at Saint John Joseph of the Cross just prior to the harbor.Guest review byMartinUnited States

We spent 1 week in Ischia, good time to go around the island. We used only the local bus which have an impressive service, better than most big cities in Europe! Nice hiking. Nice beaches and warm enough in mid October to take a bath. Some have hot spring. Cute tiny streets, but unfortunately without space for sidewalks: the 2 and 3-wheelers are loud and stinky and deteriorate the whole experience. Ischia could be a paradise with only electrical vehicles! We see more and more fat e-bike, I wish for the island they will reduce and transform their car & scooter rental...Guest review byÉric TravellerFrance - 6.0
No parking.
No parking. Many steps to get to the piazza and port and not pedestrian safe. Not geared to tourists. Shops for local consumption mostly. Ok for a day or two but traffic in and out is terrible and not a good base for exploring the area. I found the restaurants good but expensive.Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 6.0

Almost only Italians are in Bacoli, very few international tourists, which makes it a special experience. You can just relax and enjoy the sea at several beaches, many of which are free, like Spiaggia del Poggio and Lido Schiacchetiello. There's quite a large supermarket on Via Roma with lots of nice local cheese, meat and fruits & veggies. Everything within Bacoli is walking distance. We used public transport to get there and around, EAV buses run mostly on schedule to reach for instance, Pozzuoli. Pozzuoli may be a better choice to stay if you want to discover the Roman ruins and the islands. There are some things to see and do in Bacoli as well, like visiting the Castle with amazing Roman sculptures and the Piscina Mirabilis is also interesting to see.Guest review byBarbaraHungary - 6.0

I used to live here for 2 years.
I used to live here for 2 years. I like how it is more peaceful than Naples. The restaurants have very good food, especially the pizza a la lenio. I love the markets you have called mercantinos. I love the beaches as well. I don’t like the massive amount of traffic around 10am on Sundays. That’s only in the summer though. All in all I love lago patria.Guest review byIreneMexico - 4.0

We loved the owners of the hotel that we stayed at but as for the town it was a dump with all due respect! It was way out of Naples and access to the beach is impossible without a car, not much affordable transport options in Italy. I would not return to Varcaturo and probably not Italy for that matter. This experience has put us off! The owners of our hotel are the only reason we would consider returning to Italy due to there warm hospitality but sadly wouldn’t stay there again solely due to the location.Guest review byAlanahAustralia - 10

A quaint town, very hilly, so if walking is not your thing consider this as the driving is not for the faint hearted...We used the bus which was a little confusing but all part of the experience and even when the bus drivers spoke no English they were happy to try to assist. Lovely beaches, not too busy in June but i am sure are packed in the heart of summer.Guest review byBridgetUnited Kingdom - 10
Positone Spa a great day.
Positone Spa a great day. St Angelo town quaint and beautiful. Garden Mortella stunning on a sunny day. Castle in Ischua Porte good. Bus transportation excellent, buses every 10 minutes, you can pay onboard. Use app Rio to Rome, excellent for travel information all around the world. Tip for travelling alone, lunch instead of dinner. Eat outside instead of dinning inside, bring a book with you. Once you begin travelling alone, the world is your oyster!!!Guest review byJackieIreland - 10

We loved to visit the Greek/Roman sites at Pozzuoli, Baia ,Bacoli and Cuma which were almost empty of tourists. There were a variety of restaurants within walking distance from the property, but it was easy to travel to Pozzuoli by public transport where the restaurants on the front are superb.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 10

Beautiful coastal area just a few kms. from Pozzuoli and easy to get to from Naples if you have a car. There is a train line but only seemed to be a few trains a day, and not sure about bus transport. A car for this area is essential to get the most out of it. We went out and about every day exploring the area, which has some wonderful archaeological sites, some dating back to ancient Greek settlements, that are little-known outside of Italy. Lots of pretty beachside cafes.Guest review byBrooks
