Such a lovely quiet countryside hotel - which was super convenient as the bus from Florence dropped us off at the bottom of the drive!! We were there for a wedding in local castle & the owner very kindly offered to drop us as it was 30min drive in sweltering heat. We walked as we wanted to appreciate the views. The pool was perfect & we had such a lovely relaxed time reading our books & staying away from the high sun! Breakfast was substantial continental spread & we had a super tasty omelette on first morning.

The castle/tower and grounds were fantastic. All staff were attentive, professional and friendly. The lunch and dinner menus were great and very enjoyable. Loved climbing to the rooftop of the tower and swimming in the pool(moat). Exactly the total experience we were looking for in the beautiful Tuscany region.

The entire property is an absolute dream. Every corner feels like a scene from a fairytale – lovingly designed, full of charm, and inviting you to pause, breathe, and simply enjoy. The views over the Tuscan hills and surrounding vineyards are breathtaking, with golden light and rolling landscapes stretching as far as the eye can see. It’s hard to imagine a more magical setting. The atmosphere is one of peaceful elegance. Whether walking through the gardens, relaxing by the pool, or enjoying a quiet moment under the trees, there’s a sense of stillness that feels both grounding and luxurious. It’s a place where time slows down – in the best possible way. The team at Locanda Le Piazze deserves the highest praise. The staff were exceptionally warm, professional, and always went the extra mile with a genuine smile. There’s a special kind of hospitality here – a perfect blend of attentiveness and heart that made us feel truly welcome from the very first moment. Our room was beautiful – spacious, serene, and tastefully furnished, with every comfort thoughtfully considered. And the food? Exquisite.     At the end of a Tuscany tour this was a lovely and peaceful setting in the heart of Chianti with some great views overlooking the vines, amazing food in the restaurant and some exceptional wines complete with a wine tasting and wine shop so we could return with some of the amazing Antinori wines from our trip. Staff such as Annalise were super nice looking after us and hosting our wine tasting. The receptionist also gave some great advice to visit Badia a Passignano which was a great way to spend our last morning too.

    I'm not giving scores normally on booking but after stay at that hotel i decided to do so. Hotel is perfect location of Tuscan climate. Is located in the place of old village. There is everything starting from pool and ending to small church. We were in rook which in close location is lieaving swallows. Surrounded with wineyards located in close location to San Gimigiano and Monteriggioni. I recomend this very much and if it will be possible I will return.

    The most amazing and enchanting property. We absolutely loved it our stay at Castello Del Nero. This is definitely a five star experience.     Florence has impressive sites, but even though we arrived in September, the city was very crowded and in some places it was difficult to move comfortably. We waited almost an hour to enter the Duomo and perhaps we could have used the time better.

    Amazing property - exceeds expectations in every way. The staff, the scenery, the luxe and comfy room decor, the lovely upgrade, and all the wonderful wine and food on property and in nearby Montefioralle and Greve. SO worth the trip. I wish we were here in the warmer months to make use of that beautiful pool with the to-die-for view!!!

    I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count.

    I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count. This is my first time stopping in and staying in Colle di Val d'Elsa. The location is very close to all the major sites in Tuscany. Volterra and San Gimignano are extremely closeby as well as Chianti. There is a charm to the old town area of Colle di Val d'Elsa, not a ton of tourists like the other sites in the area.

    The apartement was even nicer than pictures. There was oil and a bit of vinegar as well as salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have a few more amenities. The pool looked really nice but we did not have time to take advantage of it. Check in was easy even though we arrived very late at night. Same for the check out.

    Fantastic little town with tonnes of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The museum ticket is great value as it gets you into lots of the historic sights. We enjoyed the weaponry exhibit as you were allowed to hold and try on the different artefacts which was cool! We parked nearby and paid with card on exit (only line up at the ticket machine if you’re paying cash). The onsite wine shop (connected to the popular winery near by) was delicious too. Would definitely recommend this town for people to visit and dine at!

    The place feels like a little castle, full of charm and character. The hosts were incredibly kind and waited for us until late at night to give us the keys and explain everything about the surroundings. Breakfast was nice, and everyone we met was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The view is absolutely outstanding. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby for dinner, which made our evenings even more enjoyable. We didn’t use the pool since it was already out of season and quite cold.

    Gaiole in Chianti is a wonderful little town with a good town center with a good variety of restaurants, a pharmacy and supermarket. It makes the perfect place to make your day trips to other cities, like Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Rada in Chianti, Greve in Chianti. Also if you want to cycle, the area around Gaiole is perfect.

    San Casciano is remote in the beautiful Tuscan Hills, although just 40 minutes slow drive to Florence The hotel is 7 minutes outside the town, so walking is difficult. Need a car to go anywhere. Taxis are not available. This hotel is pretty good, but the much-acclaimed restaurant is, at best, just above average and pricey. Claims to be "special" but isn't! Terrace dining is romantic but watch the wasps in the daytime and mosquitos in the evening. Swmming pool fairly small and crowded. Grounds are pristine and lots of lovely bougainvillea. Reception staff smile a lot. Huge carpark!

    This place was incredible.

    This place was incredible. The property was beautiful and so well kept. The owner, Alex, could t have done more to make sure we were comfortable in our stay and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. He was really friendly, great with our kids and made us feel like we were at home. The rooms were so well decorated, the beds comfy and Alex had great recommendations for exploring the area nearby. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back in an instant.
